Im 11st, (154lbs) ish. Tonight i sparred with a guy 11.11st and he felt strong beyond belief. I didn't think this was such a big weight gap, but it felt like he walked right through everything i threw at him. He is very experianced though, nearly 30 fights at amature level. Im only 5. Seemed i couldn't do much to cause him any problems. Felt abit embarressed to be honest.

Was also forced to take a knee tonight buy a 9st fighter! this however doesn't worry me, seen him knock guys much heavier than me down with viscious body blows. I recovered well and boxed nicely against him for a couple of rounds. He is lethal and will be a pro soon mark my words.

What im asking is, what do you guys think is a suitable weight difference to spar with? Should that extra weight really cause me that many problems?

I weight 165lbs (not sure how many stones that is) But i spar fighters as low as 152lbs and as high as 215lbs. From what info you gave it sounds like his experience is what gave you the problems, not the weight. Just don't get discouraged, When I get in with the big boys I almost always take a beating.

Sparring is about both boxers learning and progressing. You shouldn't be getting beat up no matter how big and heavy the other guy is.

Yea this is very true, I didn't mean it like that. I love fighting various weights cause they usually all bring something different to the table.

Just watched your videos you posted croc face, your built similar to me, rangey and long arms. Im only 6ft though.
I think it was the experience, but the strength just seemed far superior. He's shorter but stocky, Maybe it was the beefy body shot i took a couple rounds earlier!

Haha then we have the same problems Scotch. Body shots seem to stick with me for days
