Ike´s jab would be all over Pac the whole night. Did you see the troube Cotto´s jab posed for Manny? And that is nowhere near Quartey´s. Manny would be competative due to his good footwork and speed but Quartey would win a clear decision imo.

Exactly. If Cotto had stuck to that game plan, the fight would have been much closer. And that game plan is the only game plan I ever saw out of Ike. Ramrod jab and a very good guard.

They did this thread in the General Forum and it was a dead heat. :!:
Actually, the GF may have favored Pacquiao overall. :yep

Prime for prime, I'd take Quartey by UD, especially at welterweight.
The Delahoya that got a gift against Quartey was much fresher, faster and stronger than the Delahoya that got out-boxed by Pacquiao. Ike's jab and straight right would be in Manny's face all night long. Pacquiao would have his moments in the fight, with both fighters potentially hitting the canvas. Quartey is the more natural welterweight and would be too much for Pacquiao.

Pacquiao versus Forrest/Winky era Quartey would be close, maybe edge to Pacman. That's as much ground as I'm willing to give.

yup, cotto was effecitvaly backing pac up with jabs. pac would be eating jabs all night from the bazooka.

Ike's physicality and speed will be hard for a defensively open fighter like Pac to deal with. Quartey would get hit and might wobble, but I'd back him to survive anything Pac has to offer and take a comfy decision. 9-3 at the closest.

I think that Quartey's size, jab, and guard would bee too much. Quartey by a clear decision.

Quartey was pretty good at losing a fight down the stretch though. I wouldn't be surprised if he blew it over the last four rounds and then got mad at the decision. And Quartey wasn't the best at throwing combos either.

When I first noticed the thread i was thinking Pac,but styles make fights and i agree that Ikes jab would have troubled Pac. If Pac could make it to the late rounds he has a chance to pull it out as Ike seemed to fade and get lazy. This is a tossup I can see Ike my midrounds stoppage or Pac by split decision.
Ike Quartey by "judge jabs" 116-112

That's what I was thinking.

With Pacs unrelenting stamina and Quarters late round lacpses in concentration, I can see a similar finish to the end of the Oscar fight-Quarter, back to the ropes, taking a pounding. Oscar however is much bigger than pac, I'd favour Quartey to win a decision this time, not a firm choice by any means. Still not convinced Pac is a H2H beast at Welter, though his attributes would make any fight competitive (bar the likes of Hearns, Robinson, Leonard IMO)
How long before a thread about Pac vs Napoles/Gavilan/Basilio??????
