Kid Gavilan is respectable here, some of the guys he fought in and around his best weight class- Eduardo Lausse, Sugar Ray Robinson, Ike Williams, some other good punchers but not top level, Basilio, DeMarco, Olson, Ortega. He had an iron chin so it didnt matter.

This is a conversation in which the lower weights could easily get overlooked...

Consider for a moment the career of Azumah Nelson. Sanchez, Gomez, Villasana, Suarez, even Fenech...

I guess that's not an incredible number of punchers, but it's a lot of punch.

That's a great one i reckon.

Harry Greb. Mickey Walker, Gene Tunney, Gunboat Smith, Tommy Gibbons, Johnny Wilson, Jimmy Slattery

And i'll admit i boxrec'd these- Zulu Kid, George KO Brown, Bob Roper, not the best win ratios but some great ko ratios.

The top guys i mentioned aren't all noted as high for punching like Nelson's, but they're good punchers and he fought them so many times.

Wayne McCullough, possibly the greatest chin after LaMotta, he fought Morales, Hamed, Larios, and even Yakushiji whom he took his first title from was a puncher. Scott Harrison wasn't a puncher but he was heavy handed and far bigger than McCullough. The comentary that night were making out as if it was Williams-Jack job but you could hit McCullough with a hammer and he'd be sound.

Good call. You could add fighters like Bratton, Turner, Hairston, Miceli, Durando, Paddy Young, etc. to that list as well.

Dick Tiger was in with the likes of Bob Foster, Ruben Carter, Florentino Fernandez, Rocky Rivero, Jose Torres(twice), Spider Webb(twice), Giardello(four times), Benvenuti, Heny Hank, Holly Mims, and Frankie DePaula.

Barney Ross.

Battalino
Petrolle (twice)
Canzoneri (twice)
McLarnin (three times)
Garcia (three times)
Armstrong

That's just off the top of my head; there's probably at least several more you could name.

Benny Leonard was in with a lot of feared punchers too I believe.
