Great interview! Such a class guy. I knew there was talk of a Holyfield vs Vlad, but I didn't know they offered him $2 million and Vlad would get $20 million, that's pretty sad that Shelly Finkel would try to rip Holyfield off. They knew he wanted a title shot, and they thought they could take advantage of him. Good for Holyfield for not being a sucker. What's stupid is they could of split it at $11 million ea., and that's more than Vlad will make in two or three title fights fighting anyone else. Bad business decision by Shelly or just greed.

Holyfield brings way more to the table from a PPV stanpoint than does those more than capable guys you are talking about, and Im not so sure there is many guys as capable as Holy is at this time.
Why should Oldyfield get a 50-50 spilt? A senior citizen who has done nothing in this millennium to deserve a title fight and is just living on his name challenging the recognised #1 HW. If the purse is 22 million, no way he should get more than 5.

"Someone has to show the integrity to say no, im not going to do it that way. Even for me, when I first started in boxing. They would tell me things I could do in the ring that I wouldn’t get caught doing. It was illegal. But I wouldn’t do it. I stood up. I said no. You being from Philadelphia, you should know Mike. Most of the trainers in Philly taught that stuff. You know, hip punching until your legs are numb. I never cried about it, but I didn’t do it"
The guy has my fullest respect for what he has proven in the ring but that is straight up bullshit.

Well they offered 2. That would need to be increased by 250 % to get the level you deem sufficient. Would you take a job offer that was presented to you like that?
You are not valuing Holyfield correctly.

How many PPV fights has Wladmir been involved in? Zero? Holyfield is still very marketable, and without him, Finkel couldnt generate the dollars to have a 22 million dollar pot to divey up between the two fighters. Holyfield is not stupid and he knows this. Maybe it shouldnt be 50-50 but 20 vs 2 is ridiculous. Holy would have most likely taken the fight for 8 million to wlads 14.
Well, the purse is up for negotiation, I bet this was just a starting offer. Still, in no way does Oldy deserve anything near a 50-50 spilt.

Holyfield may have the last laugh if he beats Sultan. Vladimir is the best champion , but he is in dire need of some class advisors.. Finkle has connections, but no credibility thesedays..
