View Full Version : Star Wars avator week in ESB classic section

Recently,
Cross trainer and myself have sported Star Wars avators as a result of a little joke on one of the threads. Therefore, just for the heck of it, why don't we all do star wars avators for just this week. Make things a little fun around here. You don't have to participate and of course it's only temporary.

While i like those things i love my avatar and i donŽt like to change it. If you bring on a better looking avatar related to SW iŽll think about it.
Just save your current avator to your computer and reinstate it next week. No big deal.

It is indeed Darth Vader, a gent by the name of David Prowse. That shot was taken from A Clockwork Orange, a couple years before Star Wars. I never realized during the Star Wars movies what a huge human Prowse is.
He's something like 6-7 and was a professional lifter and bodybuilder.

I've never seen a Star Wars movie (not my generation, not my taste), so how does mine look? :bbb
I also ran into one that i think would've looked 'appealing' for John Thomas:

An Admiral already outranks a Captain though.
In the first one, Vader had a boss who wasn't the Emperor, right?

Yes,
His superior bore the title of "Grand Moff", which in the Star Wars universe, is like a Governor or something. Still, the Emperor was his main master.
I should have worded the rankings differently, I was just going by the lines of " Empire Strikes Back "

Perhaps we can expand "Commando Week" into a generalized "Action Hero Week"?
If so, I have plenty of options (from Errol Flynn to Chuck Norris) to choose from. :hey

Here's a fun observation.
There's this kid. He comes from nothing, but he has an incredible natural talent. He's taken in by a cantankerous but fatherly outsider, who thinks he can make the kid into the best. But he dies before he should, and one of his disciples takes over training the kid.
The kid goes on to become a warrior of unparalleled skill and ferocity. Some think he can become the greatest of all time, do things that have never been done before. But as powerful as he is, emotionally he's nowhere near as strong. His character is flawed, and he has a disturbing tendency toward uncontrolled violence. He never had a father, and his trainer can't fill the void.
But there's someone who can. An evil man of great influence and also great charisma. He's a master of manipulation, and he wants our warrior for his own selfish purposes. So he attaches himself to this warrior who's still just a kid emotionally, and becomes the father he never had. Slowly he poisons the mind of our warrior, turning him against those who have brought him to where he is, and bringing out the worst in him.
The people around the warrior, the people who brought him up? They're not perfect. They're aloof, cold, maybe they don't understand him. But they seemed to basically have his best interests in mind. They're not villains, but they can't relate to the warrior the way the evil and charismatic manipulator can.
Eventually our flawed warrior turns against them completely, falling fully under the sway of the evil father-figure who now controls him. But without the discipline those people imposed upon him, the warrior soon comes to ruin. His own flawed character is his undoing, and he suffers both the total collapse of his personal life, as well as devastating defeat in combat. He commits despicable acts that turn most observers against him forever.
Never having really cared for the warrior, the evil old manipulator is content to use him for all that he's worth, and then throw him away. Rather than the greatest of all time, our flawed warrior has become a case of "what might have been". He was great and fierce on his way up, but in a lot of ways we never saw his true prime, because he ruined himself. He becomes something of a pathetic figure, frightening but also sad. A freak. You pity him, even though he doesn't deserve it.
Now am I talking about Mike Tyson, or Anakin Skywalker?

Which is what makes Star Wars so great--it deals so well with universal human foibles and tendencies.
