That's why nobody knows where Ruis is, and Maskaev will have a nice $$$ fight lined up for him.

Yeah, Oleg lasted 11 rounds with Tua. Ruiz barely lasted 11 seconds.

Everyone knows where Ruiz is- waiting to step in for a certain coward holding a WBC belt hostage.

Yeah, Ruiz deserves credit for facing solid opposition. I give Ruiz credit as much as his style was painful to watch.

What's with the WBC belt always being held hostage?

First Shitali, now Oleg.

If only Hasim Rahman could actually get past Oleg Maskaev.

At least he fights (poorly though).

He would fight anyone at any point in his career.

I agree with that mostly. He fought some poor competition when he was on his way back from that Tua fight, but he certainly has fought a lot of good competition overall in his career.

The Quiet Man's style can be hard to watch sometimes, but you can't accuse him of ducking anyone.

Yeah, but it doesn't look like he'll be calling out for a rematch anytime soon. I myself wouldn't completely discount the possibility of Ruiz winning a rematch. There have been fighters before who have been KOed by fighters in one round only to win a rematch. That kind of blowout doesn't necessarily mean that Tua was that much better than Ruiz, it just means that Ruiz was caught cold early and didn't know how to survive.

what has tua done in the last 6 years to deserve anything?

Aint that the truth.

No one can ever question the man's balls. He hasn't taken an easy fight in what, 7 years?

That is one thing you cant question is Ruiz's work ethic. he is always there and available to fight anyone, anywhere. He's the dude they to work on Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving.... He is one boring mo-fo to watch though.

What has anyone in the heavyweight divisiona done to deserve anything lately?

Chris Byrd in his last fight; John Ruiz in going the distance against Chagaev; Jameel McCline in his undefeated streak (the Valuev fight should have been a no-contest) etc. etc.

Ruiz should get credit for taking on all comers.

I think he redeemed himself a bit in his fight with Chagaev which was quite an interesting one. The first 6 rounds contained a lot of infighting, close range etc. By the 8th/9th, Ruiz started to tire and went back to holding more, but it was a good fight.

He held a bit more at the end but by no means excessive. Chagaev was tired to...Ruiz actually hurt him pretty good at the end of the 11th.

Say what you want about Ruiz, but he's always fought the best, never made money an issue, stayed active by HW standards, and always could fight for 12 rounds. People can hate on the guy but his fights weren't THAT bad. I'd rather watch a rugged infight with clinching than Taylor-Spinks...two guys posturing, throwing 25 punches per round, none of which ever land.

Get'em Jawny!!!

So Ruiz would never hurt his back? That is basically what you are saying.

That Brewster fight was awhile ago, over a year ago, but yeah that Holyfield fight was pretty good, but nothing else has been even remotely interesting.

This is just the latest attempt by Oleg to avoid Peter, he is finally being stripped of a title he should have lost along time ago to Peter.

No but he hugged everyone instead

No, he'd just hold excessively or fake low blows to cheat his opponents of their opportunity to win the fight WITHIN the rules - and if that didn't work, Don King would get him a gift decision like he did in the third Holyfield fight and the Golota fight.:yep

Despite their injury problems, at least Vitali and Maskaev were legitimate FIGHTERS who won their fights WITHIN the rules. Ruiz was a glorified clubfighter who wouldn't have won a single fight at the world class level if it wasn't for the influence of Don King! :nod

He would fight anyone at any point in his career.Yeah I gotta give old Johnny Boy credit for that BUT, I refuse to watch him again unless he's fighting somebody that could possibly punch his face off!
