View Full Version : Does anyone give Salita even the slighest chance ?

The guy is a bum who ain't scheduled a 12 round fight in his whole 30 odd career. Except for one solitary fight.

"Oh but he is mandatory" they cry.

Maidana was the mandary and is their 'interim' WBA world champion.

Salita just caught a bum's break here and has fought nobody top 10 to deserve a crack.

This is evident in everyone thinking he aint got a watery stool specimen's chance against Khan.

Yeah I had a browse over his record and its evident that whoever handles him has matched him extremely carefully. He's obviously a prized asset for them, he hasn't fought a live body as far as I can see. I don't see him as a threat to be honest, I've watched him and he doesn't show anything special and he doesn't punch hard.

I don't think Khan will have it so easy he's in with a decent boxer but i don't see him winning. As for Khan going on the other night about his fights explosive and fast etc...i don't see this fight being that way. It be yet another Kotelnik performance maybe with a bit more power and aggression but again minimal risk taken.

Salita has actually got a bit of pop and is fairly creative, he's more tricky then Kotelnik.

He has at best a 2% chance of beating Khan!!!

Salita has fast hands and a dig but he`s too easy to hit. He`s been down early in a couple of fights. However as with every Khan opponent he can win if he lands a clean one to Amir`s chin. All Khan`s fights from now on will be like the last one. Don`t get "chinned" at all costs and land the combinations only when its safe!

I give him a 10% chance.

I don't think Roach will continue to train Khan if he loses to Salita

Salita has no chance.

Im still pissed off that Salitas fight with Willie Limond fell through, cos I have no doubt Willie had the tools to beat Salita over the distance & get a big name on his resume, throwing him right back into the mix.
It didnt happen though, & now Khans got him, & is gonna look great dismantling Salita inside 3.
I think we are going to see a WOW performance from Khan in this fight, cos Salita is tailor made for him.

Absolutely agree....Limond is a decent fighter (when he bothers to show us) and he would have smoked Salita over the distance no probs:deal

As much chance as Degale and the other 'Olympians' opponents for their first 20 fights. Another reason not to buy.

No chance. This is a Kahn showcase. Kahn will look sensational against Salita.

He has a slight chance.

But I still would think that Khan takes him out with one of his flurry stoppages sometime after the 4th or 5th round.

I'm not excited about this fight at all.

Hopefully bigger challenges lay ahead for Khan after this one.

Anything can happen in boxing or combat sport.

BUT this fight would not have been taken on from the backers of Khan if they thought he had a remote chance of losing.

Khan unless he shows much improved form will be fighting guys with padded records or NAMES 'a former top fighter who is past it'

Khan is a boxing god. Only Mayweather and Pac can defeat him below 154.

I thin hes got a good chance, i think he can throw a decent punch, the way he punches looks good from what I've seen!!

I think hes definitely got enough power to hurt Khan!!

I still cant believe this is for the World Title and not an eliminator. Maidana and Ortiz deserved a shot before khan, and i believe Maidana should have been the mandatory when Khan won. Any Mazallan stfu, you talk so much crap you troll...

Not really, a punchers chance but he hasn't really got power to get excited about.

If he has a good gameplan though he could be effective, Khan looked very sheepish in his last fight.

I've not thought much of Salita when I've seen him fight.

Khan will win a shutout if he boxes cautiously.

Khan is going to lose brutally again though, maybe not this fight, but it will happen.......

i havent come across any solid footage of salita on youtube other then small clips, its hard to make any kind of prediction, phisically khan wont be able to boss him around i need to see some videos of salita last 2 fights before i can say anything for certain

The only Salita fight I have seen was on the Calzaghe-RJJ u/card...and he looked like shit. If anyone can point me to some footage that shows Salita might have a chance, let me know.

I dont think you'll get any Antcull as there isn't a fight in which he's looked fast enough to outspedd Khan or a puncher in even the slightest sense. Khan late stoppage for me :good

Or Kotelnik was made to look awful by Khan. Not that Kotelnik is great but he is certainly decent. Kotelnik had just beat Victor Ortiz conqueror Maidana that everyone wants Khan to fight. And a controversial loss to prime Witter doesnt make Kotelnik awful either.

Styles make fights, yet people still discredit Khan's victory over Kotelnik. I still rate it as a victory over a world class opponent. Many people thought it was going to be a close fight (I personally had it at 50-50, Khan on points or Kotelnik by stoppage), but hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it? :p

Kotelnik wasn't awful, he was a solid fighter. Solid fighters don't tend to do well with fighters that are way more athletically gifted. That forced him onto the front foot where it was painfully obvious he was not a natural. He stalked Khan around the ring and did nothing, he had no inspiration once his usual mode was not a winning formula. He didn't get close enough, he didn't gamble enough by throwing combinations, he didn't work the body and bring Khan's arms down, he was poor in that matchup.
