Guzman UD. Not exactly putting my neck on the line though, considering Guzman is the favourite and has went the distance in his last 8 fights.

Hopefully Guzman gets KTFO.

Yup, all logic & reasoning go out of the window when I see the name Joan Guzman.
Hes been haunting my big fat scottish ass for years, he was supposed to fight Harrison about 10 times & it always fell through. I had tickets for the bloody fight, & it cost me a small fortune just to get my ticket money back!
Then he was supposed to fight Arthur. Fell through again.

& all the while, I have had thicko Guzman lovers telling me how he would have destroyed Scotty & Alex on the same night, despite the fact that Guzman CANT BLOODY PUNCH:twisted:
I been waiting a long time to see this hypejob Guzman get his, man I HATE Joan Guzman!
As the Mcallan once said, hes even got a girls name!

Fuck Joan Guzman, & all who sail in him. Rant well & truly over.

LOL dunky,
arthur would most likely have gotten KO'd by the feather fisted dominican were talking about the same lad that got put on his arse by the likes of steve foster Jr and was hurt numerous times by nicky cook FFS u should know better dunks arthur was struggling at 130 and fighting a world class operator at that weight would have not helped matters
as for harrison well i'm sure the fight would have been a bit more competitive then the former but in all likelihood i think guzman would have won a wide decision and schooled harrison over 12 rounds, i'v got no quarrel with the scots btw so no hard feelings

He's never fough tsomebody like Funeka so it will be interesting to see.

Oh, quality this has come round :happy

Gonna be a really, REALLY interesting fight. I'm gonna' go for Guzman to finally show himself up, Funeka will not have to worry about Guzmans pitter-patter punches, Guzmans brilliant movement will keep him in there, Funeka UD.

I have a sneeky feeling that that day is this fight.

Dominican bad boy Joan Guzman takes on Ali Funeka in Canada this Saturday for the vacant IBF lightweight title.
Guzman gets a shot despite the stigma of his aborted showdown with Florida's Nate Campbell last year in America. The unbeaten, usually fearless Guzman tried to scupper the fight by coming in overweight. Campbell agreed to fight him at catchweight. Guzman also agreed but then pulled a few hours before the fight, claiming he felt unwell.
Campbell lost out on a $300,000 payday.
Known as "Lil' Tyson", Guzman certainly acted like the boorish former heavyweight champ (in fairness to Tyson he usually turned up on the night) and was three-and-a-half pounds over on the scales. Guzman can fight - but does he want to fight? This is a man who has failed to stop his last eight opponents, who hasn't fought since last December and who has held WBO titles at super-bantamweight and super-featherweight.
There is no way in the world he should fail to make lightweight.
Anyway, the 33-year-old Guzman has a chance to make amends for all that against Funeka, who did have the bottle to take on Campbell earlier this year in Campbell's native Florida, where he held him to a majority 12-round decision. It broke a hot 16-fight winning streak (14 early) for the 31-year-old South African puncher, who would have won but for a couple of knockdowns he suffered, one in the second round, the other in the 11th. (Ironically, and it does seem to be contagious, Campbell came in overweight but at least he climbed into the ring.)
"Rush Hour" Funeka has lost only to Mzonke Fana and Campbell in 34 outings and crushed good American Zahir Raheem in four rounds last year. With 25 early wins he is obviously a threat to the flaky Guzman but, despite the latter, the durable, slick-boxing Guzman is probably the pick.

-doesn't have superior handspeed9compared to Guzman)

Well, for one thing he was actually a champion in two different divisions so you're actually wrong with your info.
But I must say I don't blame you for feeling the way you do because Guzman has been very irresponsible with his career to say the least. I'm actually one of those people who is still wondering whether he'll make wait this weekend and won't believe he is fighting until I see him in the ring.

Dunky your still spouting utter shite .... Scott Harrison was lucky Guzman didnt get in there with him, he would have schooled him. Harrison has to be the most ridiculous excuse for a world champion there has ever been, oh man i still remember that fight he had with Victor Polo, he totally struggled with Polo and then Marquez fought Polo and won every round, what a bum Harrison was , yet another British hypejob ..

As for Alex 'zero talent' Arthur, i can still envisage him being beaten to a pulp by Gomez, and it was the same shot over and over again, cant remember if it was the left hook or right hook but it was an embarrassment. He was knocked down and then he smiled at the camera like he was the man, what a dickhead Alex Artur is .. And then he gets beat by the limited Nicky Cook and blames weight problems, Arthur is a chump, like so many he talks a great fight but when it comes time to deliver he fails miserably .... Alex Arthur was touted for years as the next big thing in British Boxing but he ended up like Harrison, exposed as a totally limited idiot of a fighter who had nothing .. Harrison and his WBO belt, reminded me of Calzaghe with his WBO strap, taking the easy defences that the WBO road dishes up for 'domestic' fighters .... Harrison was lucky he never entered the ring with Marquez or Guzman, they would have absolutely destroyed him, as for Arthur v Guzman, i still laugh at the idea of that mismatch .......... Arthur and Harrison against anybody of any class is an absolute joke, so Dunky stop talking your ridiculous patriotic Scottish shit, Buchanan was a great fighter, Watt was a decent fighter but since these 2 guys, all you've had are bums with big mouths and zero talent .........:deal

Guzman is naturally talented, but i'd substitute Mayweather for Calzaghe .. Calzaghe was a hard working fighter with unbelievable stamina and a weak resume, he wasnt 'naturally talented', Tzsyu was a hard working fighter too who honed his incredible skills, but again he wasnt a 'naturally gifted' fighter ....

Naturally gifted fighters are guys like Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard, Naseem Hamed, Pernell Whitaker .... etc

There is a Fluidity in the movement of 'Naturally Gifted' fighters that ordinary fighters dont have .... You would never say Hagler, Monzon, Pacquiao were 'naturally gifted' boxers, but they all worked hard, sharpened their skills and became great fighters, but with these guys its all about working to a rhythm and being able to take a shot to give a shot, wereas guys like Roy Jones, Floyd, Pernell and Ray Leonard are poetry in motion in boxing terms ..... I'd also add Don Curry to that list too, he was an aesthetically beautifully fluid fighter to watch, now that is natural talent ..

Just watched Campbell/Funegga for the first time, that one passed me by at the time. I'm not at all convinced Funegga didn't win that fight. I scored it the same as Harold Lederman who scored it 113-113, except I have Funegga winning round 3 which was blatantly his round.

All the rounds were easy to score, Campbell won 1, 2, 11 and 12 with two 10-8's so to me that was a poor decision because there wasn't the excuse 'they were close rounds'. Funegga's were all clear.

Let me just say this... Guzman gonna have to do something special to win this fight. I mean seriously special.

Funegga is a high-output guy, like 90 a round, and he throws triple jabs like they are nothing to maintain distance. He's 6'1, he's no bum skill wise, he rolls with the punches well on defence, throws correctly to head and body. Only time Campbell got any success was just walking right through and pounding away. Put it this way if he didn't get those knockdowns he's losing this fight by a schooling.

Guzman gonna have to do some seriously good moving and throw Funegga out of his rhythm with lead right hands and left hooks. He gotta cut Funegga's work-rate down and the only way to do that is either stay inside or circle well and throw punches that make Funegga think about putting that jab out there.

Yeh i had funeka clearing winning a close decision against campbell.
Campbell only won the kd rounds and 1 or two more. also a kd does not always need to equal a 10-8.

But i feel guzman will defeat funeka, funeka hasnt fought anyone like guzman, he ko'd raheem, but guzman is on another level.

I know I mump & moan & HATE Guzman, but when I was moaning a few days ago about him I had forgotten the heartache he had went through when losing his mother.
Supposedly, this was why he didnt make the weight for the Arthur fight, & who can blame him if he was looking after his sick mother.

So if Guzman wins, I will bear no grudges. I will take all the Guzman loving that comes my way, take a deep breath & get over it. Such is life.
