Vitali and Maskaev took the easy way out....Vitali having Emeritus status and Maskaev might go that route as I await his statement soon as he will retire Emeritus also......embarrasing for boxing.....

And they took a lot of time and progress out the HW division.
If it wasn't for that bullshit comeback, negotiations for Mask-Clit we would've had Sam Peters defending the WBC title a few times now. Instead all we got is a lot of inactivity of the WBC belt.
Herniated discs in his back caused while training is the hard way out.
Maskaev is finished. He'll never be considered an ATG but hey, becoming WBC HW Champ by bashing Hasim Rahman into the canvas ain't bad bragging rights, over a couple of stoli's in a bar. :good

Fucking idiot I swear.
Peter got lucky vs a washed up and off the juice James Toney in the first fight, and beat him second time. This means he's the #1 ranked man in the WBC? Amazing stuff.

It's silly to think that Toney has been "off the juice" at any point since he was a super middleweight.
Sucks for Peter though. He's not as good as people project him to be, but he is still improving as a fighter, and he really needs to get the ring time in order to keep improving. Either way, I suspect that a few years from now he won't necessarily be hot shit. He just seems to have some motivation issues to me, and usually those guys fade out by the time they pass their physical peak.

Im not even talking about that, Im talking about Orishman and his continous hate for fighters who are injured.

If you are tough...you are tought...interesting enough that Maskaev pulled out at the last minute since disc injurries don't happen from night to morning, they are developing type of injury, so all of a sudden is was ill...don;t buy it...like I never bought Vitali's story either...

Awhile back I would have totally disagreed with you, but I aint so sure now...this is the Williams sisters tactics in tennis.
Claim injury when you lose, or if you think you are gonna lose, withdraw due to injury :fire  :verysad

He had emergency back surgery.
:patsch
Maskaev and Vitali Klitschko are not the first heavyweights to postpone fights. As far as I remember Tyson is a champion in that area. He postponed total of 7 fights. Maskaev\'s manager points out the fact that Holyfield and Tyson postponed fights but were treated differently. Ruiz postponed his rematch with Holyfield so that I do not understand that selective thinking.

could be a good argument, but in the Russian curcuit where they were raised, it was well documented that they filled their athletes with roids to give them size and muscularity to compete. Now their bodies are reaping the "benefit"

Remember all this talk about the herniated disc and such is coming from Rappaport, who I simply don't find trustworthy.
Duva said he'd seek to verify the injury. It's been a week so I don't know where that stands right now.
Now tell me this isn't inconsistent. Rappaport tells Dan Rafael that Maskaev had 1 herniated disc and 1 buldging disc. Kesch, who is Maskaev's other manager, tells another site that Maskaev had "several herniated discs and a couple buldging discs"
Now if inconsistencies are any sign of bullshit then we'll need hip waders to proceed further.

Ok, sure Tyson and Ruiz and Holy pospotponed fights but they didn;t retired after that ...Vitali v Rahman we waited and waited and waited and never happened..not that I taugght Rahman could beat Vitali but the dragging and dragging...if Maskaev recover form back surgery at his age, he will not be in fighting condition until late 2008 to early 2009....I think he could have postpned the surgery till after the fight, hell a number of baseball players and football players opted to postponed surgery and complete the season rather than quit ad run until next season....Maskaev didn;t want to deal with Peter fromm the beginning..and keeping his title as Emeritus was the next bestthing to losing it in the ring...
