Hiya Gents !

MaxBaer.org celebrates its 1 year anniversary this month and its been an eventful year ! I've contributed research, anecdotes and photos for a Sacramento public broadcasting segment on Max, for a San Francisco architectural firm reconstructing Max Baer Park, and for a world famous author/producer who plans to include Max among a cast of characters in a novel set in 1930s Sacramento. I thought it best to turn down the medium who wanted me to appear on the show while she attempted to contact Max in the hereafter...not my cup of tea ! =) Finally, by Googling the words "max baer" maxbaer.org is officially #2 and climbing, right behind #1 Wikipedia's entry for Max, which I've made major corrections/contributions to.

I've made yet more updates to my site and invite you to stop in if you haven't in awhile. [Only registered and activated users can see links] My next big project is to finally get the "Clips" page working so that it is accessible to all and add a slew of new films !

Current changes to the site:

* I've added over 10,000 words on the "Early Years" page, covering:
- Max's earliest bouts with Schaaf, Loughran, Heeney, Risko, and especially the buildup to his July 4th, 1931 battle against Paolino Uzcudun.
- The Baer family's arrival, settlement and migration across the United States.

* I've added an e-mail link to a gent who offers some ULTRA RARE classic fights on DVD, which he's transferred from original 16mm films. I've personally purchased Baer-Levinsky, Baer-Levinsky exhibition, Interview with Baer & Louis, Full Baer-Comiskey, Baer-Nova 1 & 2, Baer in newsreels.

Films available include and I quote: "film on Jack Johnson training for Jeffries, Jeffries training for Ruhlin, all the way through to today. I have a lot of the Pabst Wednesday night fights and many of the Gillette Fights with Jimmy Powers and later with Don Dunphy, etc. Jeffries knocking out Fitzsimmons in their 2nd championship fight, etc. I do have some archive footage of many 30's - 50's fighters in interviews, newsreel and training. I have silent films that shows Johnson, Sullivan (a fat old man), Jeffries in training, etc. I also have stuff like that for Dempsey, Carpentier, Greb, etc."

* I've added a slew of Answers to Questions on the FAQs. Keep those questions coming, guys !

* I've added more material to existing sections.

* I've added about 40 more photos to the photos page, including:
- early fights and more major fight scenes
- advertising items
- later in life images.

Enjoy !

I am reconing that the life of Max Baer would be a great subject for a film.

Hey there Janitor how the heck are you ??? Good to 'see' you !! That's what I'm hoping, that if I can generate enough interest, a film will be in Max's future. I was just counting up the number of visitors to the site over the year and it's officially topped over 40,000, with visitors from almost every single country in the world ! Cool, huh ? Gotta love the power of the internet.

Take care,
Cat

Why thank you kind Sir !! I only wish I had more than highlights for Baer-Foord. I'd love to see the 'scene' that I have the photo of, where Max is just guffawing as Foord lays on the canvas. The film will surface some day I just have to keep looking. Again, thanks for the kind words !

Hey Holmes !

Glad you liked it. Indeed, there's a ton of info on the site. Definitely too much to absorb in one sit down. The scary part is there's so much more to write about I could easily go over 100,000 words eventually and I'm nowhere near being bored with the subject !

Thanks,
Cat

Hiya Greb !

Glad you liked my site and I would LOVE a link on your site. I like how you've broken down your forums by very specific subject matter. A new concept and sure to be a crowd pleaser. I can see I'll have to add a 'links' section to my site, so I can return the favor some day.

Best of luck !

That is such an honor, thank you Mendoza.

When I'd initially created my site last year I received a congrats e-mail from the Director of IBRO, and later corresponded with several of the contributors to IBRO. I've gone the extra mile to ensure my site is above all thoroughly researched and accurate. To be recognized by people I respect so much is an absolute thrill.

Thanks again,
Cat

I have yet to see someone who at least resembles Max in passing, and is able to act suave, tough and crazy. The guy who played him in Cinderella Man actually nailed some of Max's physical movements, but he leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of how poorly Max was potrayed in the movie.

Those are some hard shoes to fill, ya know ? A combination of Jim Carrey and Matt Damon, but who would that be ? Honestly I don't keep up with the entertainment news but of the movies I've watched no one person has stood out !?

Who comes to mind for you ??

I aim to please, thanks very much, Luigi ! I enjoy learning about and relaying all the little details myself. I mean, people don't live in a bubble and as I write I like to include all the stuff going on around them to understand the person and make the situations more interesting.

Modern guys--I can't think of anyone.
All time--What about Clark Gable? Obviously not an option today.

As OLD FOGEY has said nobody living springs to mind.

Personaly I would not worry about the actor looking like him and decide it on the audition eg who captured him in their acting.
