Hello chaps.

Mates birthday coming up.

Was hoping to buy him a couple of UFC events on DVD.

Could anyone recommend any quite recent (which has guys on it that are still fighting at the moment would be good) UFC shows which feature a good "bill" of fights on them. Looking for something which is quite entertaining most of the way through, rather than just one good fight on it.

Cheers lads:good

Aside from some really good ones you mentioned id recommend UFC 43 (Couture vs Liddell 1, Vitor Belfort in action, lots of good fights), UFC 90 (main event sucks but watching Griffin vs Sherk and Koscheck vs Alves are well worth it), UFC 88 (the crazy Liddell-Evans Knockout, good scrap with Rich Franklin and Matt Hamil, Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt is bouts as well), UFC 68 (Couture-Sylvia fight to me is very special), UFC 63(BJ Penn vs Matt Hughes II amazing fight), UFC 59(the co-main events involving Arlovski vs Sylvia II and Ortiz vs Griffin I are some of the best co main events on any UFC card), UFC 49( Couture in a bloodbath with Vitor, Liddell in a slugfest with Vernon White, Karo Parysian vs Nick Diaz in a wonderful grappling battle)

A lot of food for thought there Jimmie.

Thanks for putting in the effort.:good

That and the great GSP-Mayhem bout and the violent Liddell-Couture II KO its a fairly significant UFC.

Oh god that was so good. BJ Penn is a monster. I reckon he's going to do the exact same thing to Sanchez.

Don't reckon to much. Sanchez is definately a live wire in that fight. That's gonna be a good one.

+1. I think BJ has every advantage except cardio, and MAYBE pure strength. Still, I think Penn's skill may make him functionally stronger.

Would be cool to watch UFC 1 and follow it straight after with UFC 100 I reckon, just to see how it's developed.

Should I also recommend you watch Glenn Beck? Are you some kind of right-wing nutjob that hates universal health care and loves conmen like the bankrupt fertittas?

If you want to get into MMA, you should never watch the ufwwe, which is a combination of the wwe and toughman contest. It's horrible.

Watch a Bellator event, or a Pride one from 2001-2003.

Get the dirt out of MMA. Grow the hell up. And kill zuffa.

You're embarrassing yourself.

Let me ask you a question? Do you consider Dick Cheny a personal hero? If you do, then you're support for the bankrupt fertittas makes perfect sense.

Grow up. Kill zuffa.

these are the one you want:
ufc 79, ufc 92 , ufc 102 , ufc 44

102 was awesome alot of violence that night like the Jardine-Silva KO, Leben being choked to sleep, the classic Nogueira-Couture war and so on.

Couture was a beast that night a tranquilizer wouldn't put him to sleep

The UFC is terrible? Name your top ten fighters in each weight class, now do it without Zuffa fighters; enormous drop off in talent. Name 10 better fighters than Randy and Mir when Brock fought them, since you claim he had never beaten anybody. Name a 185, 170, 155, or 145 fighter who could be champion in the UFC or WEC.

So he should not watch the best collection of fighters today, but rather be stuck in the past watching an organization that fixed fights? Bellator is good, but has only a handful of world class talent.

Don't watch the present, only live for an idealized past that was rotting from the inside and eventually got sold because they were too corrupt to operate.

Thanks for your imput lads:good

Picked up UFC 84 and UFC 88. They were the only ones available from my local store, that were also on my shortlist (didn't have time to order online).

Hopefully my blackbelt mate will like them.

Will try and pick up the others soon, as I am only really getting into the sport myself.

Cheers for all your help.

the hughes v penn 2 event always sticks in my mind! hughes v newton and trigg are all time classics, watch em! GSP v trigg is a beatiful display of the art by georges! check out ian freeman v frank mir, freeman was like a pitbull in that fight.

i can also recommend pride 'final conflict' 2006 in which you will see a prime crocop at his finest destroy josh barnett and wanderlai silva to win one of the toughest grand prix's ever! it included shogun, arona, noguiera and overeem, memorable indeed.

That Nog vs Barnett fight that night was a classic beautiful grappling displayed in that fight.
