Yassine El Maachi wants Anthony Small

Unlike Small, El Maachi does his exciting stuff in the ring and not on the way to it.

Anthony Small:

We know you read the forums, El Maachi bossed you in sparring and now he wants you for real....

You don't belong anywhere near Ryan Rhodes or Jamie Moore- fight the Showman.:happy

Lets Calm Down.

Yassine El Maachi's record against fighters with winning records is 3 wins, 4 losses. Hardly inspires.

I think the board should declare Vitali Klitschko a British citizen and order a catchweight fight......

If Small somehow lasts the full 12 just shoot the fucker - several times :yep

would be an alright fight Small is good when he lets his hands go and isnt the best defensive fighter but he tries to be. Yassine has defensive flaws but a real good offence.

Only thing both are loose armed guys so they could tangle each other up

But El Maachi said he'd ideally prefer Ryan Rhodes rather then Small. I'd be torn in an El Maachi-Small fight. As a Finsbury Park native I'd have to support my neighbour El Maachi but I like Small as well as a mate of mine knows him. Bring on El Maachi-Rhodes I say (or El Maachi-Brook at WW)

Fuck that, I'm not running the risk of having to sit through 12 rounds again. Shoot the cunt after three.

Yassine's got his flaws though, even offensively. Really good hard counters with the left hand, but he is very left hand happy. With the angles he finds maybe he can afford to get away with not throwing the jab that often, but he should at least bring in some right hooks and uppercuts rather than unorthodox style left hooks from the southpaw stance.

Am kinda lost a bit......

Hows El Maachi gonna get a step too with Small ?

Smalls British and Comm's champ aye. ?

Is Maachi mandatory for one of these ?

If he is fair enough, if he aint then why would he ( Small ) take such a fight ?

Regardless, Smalls fucking shameful.

first time i've seen el-maachi but something doesn't stack up , surely he has not had to travel the world because no one will fight him which seemed to be the spin he was putting on things ??? doesn't seem to have settled at his natural weight either ??? surely he'd be awesome at welter which the commentators suggest he could make.... does anyone know if his losses came when giving away weight again like last night ( 1 stone ) ?

i thought he looked very interesting but difficult to tell at this level and he is 30. George groves couldn't get rid of the same opponent in that style so it shows some pedigree given his size , i hope he get's his chance...

i agree could be the new choi but i guess that's a tag no fighter wants !!!

i wish him all the best.

I know it is very unlikely (like 1% chance of happening), but I would love to see Brook vs El Maachi :yep

I really do like El Maachi, very entertaining and a great left hook (although he neglects the right a bit too much :yep), plus he seems live a decent guy as well - someone give the lad a chance!

El Maachi needs to start beating people who are decent before calling British title fighters out. Maybe alot of fighters are worried of him and do not want to fight him but he still has to do it the right way. Hopefully he is not another fighter who does all his talking at low level and behind closed doors.

I'll take your word for it as I can't comment on Small on a personal level as I have never met the dude. In the ring and when cameras are on, he does himself absolutely no favours, though. I can only go by what I see of him and, from what I've seen from him over the years, he acts like a silly, silly boy and will never win fans continuing with the circus-act - if you do attempt bravado and showboating in the ring like SRL, Naz, RJJ et al, you have to at least be able to pull it off or you'll just end up looking like a twat. I'd love to have known what he was saying to McDonough in the ring at the time.

I agree. He has already lost to Thomas McDonagh, who lost to Small. His only decent win out of his 15 fights was against Kevin Conception.

How anyone can overboard with a win against Spitko, a man he already beat 3 months ago, is beyond me. ITV's went overboard with this boxer and Barker last night.

Seen how close the scorecard was for his loss against McDonagh though, and his loss against Vassell - could well have been at the end of a 'home-town' decision.

Plus they weren't going 'overboard' because of the opponent he beat, but the talent he displayed.

His interview with Bunce suggested that he had indeed been robbed in his points losses as well as getting done by Maloney on the purse for Concepcion

El Maachi v McDonagh. Make the rematch. If El Maachi wins then he can fight Small.

Who knows where El Machi would be be right now if he'd had a proper trainer for all these years because he clearly has so much natural talent but has alot of things to be ironed out. Obviously this will take time but it looks like he is in safe hands now.

I've been following him since he fought Eamon goodbrand who was a boy I know who was 3-0. He was expecting a relatively routine victory I think giving El Machi's record but got totally the opposite and if it wasn't for the fact that the boy has the Heart of lion and an Iron chin, he would have been stopped.

I would give him a chance against Small at this stage, although I think it would be a poor fight.

I wouldn't mind Small if he backed up what he says in the ring. He was very poor on Friday and was deluded about his performance. He seems to struggle when fighters don't walk in straight lines looking for him like Hall did.Nowhere near world class imo

Sorry Silly, but Losfer is right. I'd rather watch Skelton v Sprott on repeat than watch Small fight again.

Yes, 'shit talkin sells!' when it's Mayweather, Naz, Ali - But when it's a guy who lands an average of 3 punches a round it makes very little difference. Ultimately, exciting fighters sell and Small was woeful on Friday.

It really was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a British champion.

Re El Maachi

It was only against a journeyman but those punches he was landing looked so spiteful and he looked a good talent

I was actualy wincing at some of the shots landing and thought that this guy could go places if managed right

Whether he beats small or not I dont know

El Maachi is the real deal, believe me he is frighteningly powerful for a welter- hits hard enough to stop light heavies, if you guys knew the ins and outs of his losses you'd be sold! His talent deserves to be showcased.. He's not invincible but he's a better and more exciting fighter then Antony Small.

I just feel he's too wild sometimes. I think it will take a lot at this stage in his career to try and iron out all the bad habits he's picked up training himself. He does have ver good power however against decent fighters he wont be allowed to just throw bombs from wherever he feels suited, and then we'll get to see hwat he's about.

I wish the lad the best as he seems a genuine bloke and I like the idea that he trained himself and has got this far on his own even though I think ultimately it will be this very fact that proves to be his downfall.

El Maachi looked v strong, powerful and spiteful. He makes a helluva lota mistakes, but so does Anthony Small and he has managed a british Championship, without having strength, power or spitefulness! I think he deserves a bigger fight, does he have a proper manager yet?

How long was he training him self for? also i heard the itv4 team say he didnt take boxing up til his 20's did he box amateur? also the itv team said he beats up world class fighters in the gym do you know the names of any of them? Cos itv were trying to sell him like he was the most avoided fighter since charley burley:huh
