View Full Version : Where does it come from that Hatton can't take bodyshots?
Mabye I'm having a :patsch moment, but I really can't remember hatton ever having serious problems with taking punches to the ribs. In the Urango fight, he took one which winded him, but seeing as everyone who picks Floyd likes to point out Hatton can't take it to the body, please let me know when Hatton has been hurt by them, as it's obviously more than one fight.
The way people go on, it's like Hatton has a glass body or something.

Bodyshots from Urango and bodyshots from Mayweather are two completely different things.
If Floyd wants to trade bodyshots, Hatton is going to win that one.
If Urango and Hatton wanted to trade bodyshots, Urango would win it.
That's why Hatton boxed Urango.

It comes from stupid Fraud Groupies who cant admit that he will pot shot and run for 12 boring rounds.
If Urango and Hatton wanted to trade bodyshots, Urango would win it.I disagree. As strong as Urango is, he lacked a good bodypunching style. Hatton may not have the same amount of power, but he knows where to place his shots. Urango was a big clumsy hitter. The difference in power is not as much as the gap in technique.

Kostya dropped him with a body shot, but they called it a low blow.

I thought it was borderline. I don't know, really. Still, I don't think it constitutes people going on about Mayweather stopping him via body punches. It's nonsense. Hatton can take body punches. The people who say he can't, are the ones who've seen very little Ricky Hatton.

hatton hasn't been in with a good body puncher to really be tested to the body, so i dont know where people are getting this 'hatton has a glass body' crap from.

Hatton himself got blasted badly to the body when he was younger which is when he decided to really work on his bodypunching, maybe he wasn't in the best shape at the time or he can't take a shot to the body, who knows

Jason Rowland, and Eamon MacGee both cause a Quick Wince from Ricky with a Body-Shot, - it does not mean anything, fighters get floored and shaken in their early years (Ali Banks and Powell / Recently Khan Limond / Berto-Carlos ? / it usually does not mean too much apart from a good peice of Education to build upon. Its the fighters will and disipline to learn lessons and stay dedicated which will overcome these little blips.

there was points in the Urango fight that I felt that Hatton was very hurt by the body shots and actually in danger of going down.

Let Floyd do what he says he will, PLEASE!!!! All that will do is up Hattons odds of success. Hatton will be physically stronger and far more effective inside than Mayweather.
Well, I hope you're right, but trust me about Hatton 'not liking' body punches.
The Urango fight, yes... got caught, and didn't fancy taking any more from a wild, heavy handed, clubbing type fighter. He might be excused for that one, agreed.
Check the Tszyu fight, they wern't hard body blows, borderline or not, but they made an IMPACT on Hatton, and from the resulting reaction, brought it to the referee's attention.
The same with the Castillo fight. They wern't hard punches, but hit somewhere near the mid-drift and ONCE AGAIN brought a reaction, when to be honest, most fighters would have carried on.
Now, it's either Hatton is EXTREMELY CLEVER and con's the ref to call those punches as low or borderline or whatever, or he doesn't like it to the body.
Having boxed myself and been around boxing all my life, good body punchers react strangely to being hit in the body themself.
Floyd can hit the head all day, he won't budge, cut maybe, but I honestly feel if he targets the stomach, you'll see a BIG success.
And that's being honest, as a huge Hatton fan.

Why the fuck would he do that against tiny Hatton?

This is dumb.
Everyone is affected by bodyshots. If Floyd hits Hatton with a clean shot to the liver, Hatton is down and vice versa.
Floyd's a very underrated body puncher btw.
