View Full Version : Barker vs Macklin
I feel Barker would have the tools and conditioning to win this one. Not sure I would be putting all my money on it though. Cracking fight.
Lets get it on!

This would be a great fight, i'd take Barker on points and i'd definately pay to see this live!

Yeah, I would want to be there!
I was at Brentwood the other night and I thought he looked sharp!
Did feel he perhaps let him off the hook a few times but over all good performance. Very decent right hand. And generally very good hand speed. The one thing I didn't like was when he tucked up on the ropes Abrahams style.

I think he's a better fighter. He'll ask questions of Barker that haven't been asked before. However I think it'd be close I wouldn't bet a significant sum on either man and certainly wouldn't be shocked if Barker pulled it off. But I've got a feeling that Macklin has an extra gear that Barker doesn't.

Im in Barkers corner ... Macklins a decent fighter but barkers workrate and the fact i believe he can improve a good deal - hes good but IMO I think he could be very good .
His workrate is outstanding , quickhands and stamina sapping punches .... as for his chin well he has been down so theres an unknown there but he boxes smart and think he would outbox macklin for a late stoppage !
I think Macca would edge this.
i havent seen Barker in there with top opposition once so this will be the acide test.

I think this is why the fight needs making, its a fight where you can easily make a case for both guys. I think if it goes the distance its Barkers fight but if it ends early it will be Macklin winning!

Personally I think Macklin would stop Barker now.
For me Macklin is the better Boxer and has far more power I was looking forward to the Elcock fight as it would of told us a lot more about Barker fighting a veteran like Wayne.
Barker doesn't need to be fighting Macklin yet and why would Macklin need to fight Barker now when he has is on eyes on the "Champion" hiding in Germany.

Puncher v Boxer
Macklin should take the fight, because he will have to go through eliminators to get a world shot and there are no guarantees. This is a big fight. And the more we talk it up, the more likely it is that it will happen at some point.
By the way, my money would be on boxing skill to prevail and Barker to take it. But it could be an epic.

its a real 50-50 but i always go with the boxer in these situations. I think a slick boxer would cause a fighter like Macklin so many problems.
Macklin would be down on the scorecards after 6-7 and start going for it. have a bit of success but put to much into getting a stoppage, and eventually be stopped himself by the classy barker.

i think people are underestimating macklins boxing skills
it would be a real close fight all right , i like barker he is very slick but i think macklin has got the skills aswel as the punch so macklin would defo catch him at some point and take him out as barker has a dodgey beard

for every person under estimating Macklins boxing skill, theres someone who think Barker has a dodgy chin or lacks heart.

No doubt Barkers a good skillful boxer, but there still has to be question marks regardin his chin. He was hurt badly against mcintosh, although he did do well come back and hes not really fought anybody who you could regard as a big puncher.
I'd say macklin by late stoppage in a competitive fight.
