I'm off to the first pro show in the town for some years on Saturday night. Not really got any big names or anything like that but hoping for some decent action and a good atmosphere. Bonus is that it's a 5 min walk from my house to the venue :happy

Has anyone been to a First Team promotion before? I think they're based in the West Midlands and have run some shows over there, so just interested in any thoughts or experiences so I can prepare the others coming to their first pro show who'd probably have got the Khan fight else.

Cheers fellas

First Team (promoter PJ Rowson and trainer Errol Johnson) are based around here (The Black Country - Wolverhampton/Dudley/West Brom) Most of their fighters are from Johnson's Wednesbury gym but they have been branching out recently, they've put on shows in Trowbridge, Luton etc. They've done a lot for boxing round ehre tbh and theyre regular shows in places like Wolverhampton, Dudley, Birmingham are always good value for money.

I spoke to PJ to get tickets today, and he was mentioning work he'd done with Graham Earl in Luton.

Looking forward to the show, hopefully we can get a bit of a scene going here like you've been getting over there and get some of the local lads like Jamie Spence a bit of a following.

County Ground, doors open 7pm fights start 8pm. £30 unreserved, £50 ringside.

7 fights, no stand outs but good to see some live fights in the town so going to support.

Haven't got number for tickets on me PM me if you can't get from the cricket club and I'll dig it out tonight.

Good one - be interesting to hear what you make to it Rhino.

Abington lads night out by the looks of it, will be Welli Rd for most punters after I bet, perhaps not for my and the father in law though.

First Team rarely have big names and there's always a bit of young local talent v journeyman which invariably ends 40-36 but they deserve praise for helping keep small venue boxing alive.

Enjoy the evening.
