Hard to call this, best championship fighters don't necessarily win Prizefighter.

Rees v Bami
Barnes v Lynes
Mutley v Jones
Cook v Grant.

I'm going to go for Barnes, but really could be any if them.

Thoughts?

Rees quick fire style might fit in well here but Lynes can fight hard. Mutley can punch. Bami has good experience.

Anything could happen in this format. It's good to see that when it comes down to it, who can fight hard over 3 rounds.

Glad to see the money step up. I think its £35k or £38k this year. Not a bad earner for this level of fighter.

I think this suits Rees.

I'll be having a big bet on a Welsh winner though.

I like Barnes for this he has a tough opener though. Lyno is a slow starter i think so it could turn nasty in the last round.

I think young mutley could be well suited for prizefighter, could be any of them that takes it but if theres a good price going on mutley i think i will go for him.

I have a sneeky feeling that Michael Grant is going to be the "suprise package" in this series. So, I'm off to ladbrokes to get a £5 bet on him facing David Barnes in the final!

For those predicting Mutley to win his stoppage in Nottingham on the Froch undercard was a bad one and im wondering if his punch resistance has gone so thats worth bearing in mind.

As an outsider i like the look of Jones at the odds he is at but i'm going to plump for Rees to win.

Before you go, ask yourself this- has Colin Lynes ever lost the first three rounds against anybody. Even in the Daws fight he started well- he also punched fuck out of McLosky for the first three rounds. Stylistically if he's fit and on form he has the best tools to win this.

Gav Rees was a Welsh synchronised swimming junior Champion.

That'll have as much bearing I reckon.

I picked Rees but I'm thinking that it might be worth putting a 5er on Lynes, he has the style to beat the rest of them and usually starts fast, don't think he'll tire either because he has the most experience of fighting 12 rounders.

We'll see mate, you could well be right.

If Rees is in shape I think he'll go close.

That seems a big IF though at the moment. The fighters coming out of Newbridge don't seem at all prepared at the moment.

I think it's on it's last legs.

I think it's on it's last legs. I'll be honest, from what I read in Fighting Fitness last month i'm absolutely amazed they ever had any success at all. They seem like a bunch of amateurs on paper. Talent wise Pryce, Rees, Macca and Zaggy must have been truly exceptional to flourish under the conditions they trained under. Enzo gets them fit but they are so naive its untrue. I think Rees and Pryce basically train themselves- thats the impression I get. Doherty losing to Harvey is ridiculous.

Rees and Pryce trained to make weight for year. they are both brainless morons too. the amount of chances they have been given compared to other fighters because of the gym they fought in is unreal.

they have pissed all there money away as well. 3 weeks after a fight there on a building site again. its a joke.

I like Colin Lynes, always have done so even before his "peak". However, I don't know if he's there for the right reasons. Obviously this is only a belief I have and not something I know for certain, but I believe that Mutley, Rees and Bami are there soley for the potential money that can be earned.

Barnes is trying to save his career and Grant to make a name for himself. Prizefighter is often won by the guys with the most desire to achive a career victory rather than a cheque.

I think if Barnes beats Lynes he will win it.

If Lynes wins..... it's wide open.

The only fight I am certain of is the Jones vs Mutley one..... Jones will win. Rees will probably beat Bami - I've not seen enough of Grant or Cook to make a comparison between them.

no the weight limit is always a bit higher in prizefighter as its not championship fights.

Does anyone know what time the fights usually finish?

I'm going to be struggling to get the last train home as Prizefighter live action usually finishes after a normal FFN which ends soon after the main event, so around 11pm.

Tough one to call this, no doubt the most intriguing Prizefighter to date. I like either Lynes or Barnes, but Cook has got a banger's chance as has Muttley...
I really don't give Rees that much of a chance though, despite him being a popular choice for favourite. All depends how the tournament goes, but he doesn't have the power (as an overweight featherweight really) to get a KO and he doesn't have the talent to outbox Lynes, Barnes or Grant.
