Pleaseeeee?
NEW YORK (AP)—Juan Manuel Lopez will return to Madison Square Garden next month, moving up in weight to challenge WBO titleholder Steven Luevano in the co-main event of a featherweight doubleheader.
Lopez (27-0, 24 KOs) didn’t show much patience in this last fight at the Garden against Rogers Mtagwa back in October. Lopez spent the final two rounds staggering around the ring while Mtagwa tried to put him away, eventually hanging on at the final bell.
Lopez admits he didn’t listen to his corner during the fight. He can’t afford that on Jan. 23 against Luevano (37-1-1, 15 KOs), who is coming off an impressive defense against Bernabe Concepcion in August.
In the other bout, unbeaten WBA champion Yuriorkis Gamboa defends his title against Mtagwa.
