Mitchell is going to get beaten up I think, mid-rounds stoppage for prescott, either the ref'll stop it or his corner will pull him out. Prescott looks huge compared. Mitchell likes a war and I reckon he might get dragged into one, can he outbox and outsmart him to overcome the size difference?
I hope Mitchell wins and will be supporting him all the way but Prescott looks a beast at the weight.

mitchells up to his neck in this one, big mistake by ****** letting mitchell in with a banger at a new weight, unless mitchells learnt some defence and movement which i doubt he has, his head will rule his heart and prescott will smash him to bits and probly stop him with a body shot in the 3rd.
i hope kevin proves me wrong and wins this but i dont see it at all.

SteelTownCobra
12-04-2009, 11:44 AM
Prescott hadn't really done anything before he sparked Khan. Since that shock KO what else has he done? Looked very ordinary indeed against mediocre opposition. All Kev has to do is avoid the big shot, I'm pretty sure he's got the skills to figure that one out.

12-04-2009, 11:46 AM
I'm pretty sure he's got the skills to figure that one out.
But has he got the temperament? He likes a tear up, and he's probably not a big enough puncher to dissuade Prescott from exchanging.
Prescott's looked average since the Khan victory, and I think Kevin's got the chin and the movement to keep him going in circles.

Other than beating a faded Carl Johanneson his resume sucks, even worse than John Murray's does.

True but he wins tear ups. He's stopped 9 of his last 10 opponents.
This is what makes this a good fight, anything could happen and at any time. I'm backing Kev but it could easily go either way.

to be fair to prescott, the guy who just beat him Miguel Vazquez isnt a nobody like people think, hes actualy a solid 5'10 light welter with decent skills, who only ever lost to tim bradley and saul alvarez (welterweight) both on decision, no disgrace in that
Noticed that as well.
Prescott is not as good as the Khan fight made him look but he's most likely still going to be too good for Kev. He looks to have a ramrod jab as well.
GazOC
12-04-2009, 12:10 PM
I've seen both of Prescotts fights post-Khan and he's hasn't looked the destroyer he did in that fight but he still looked like a decent fighter. Mitchells got it to do IMHO.
It wasn't that bad. Prescott is just long and gangly. It's an advantage at a shorter distance, Prescott probably doesn't have the technique to get leverage closer.

I tend to agree with you. Everyone is hyping Prescott as if he is the second coming of Tyson based on the Khan fight. I saw one of his post Khan fights and also thought he looked average.

the man who last beat prescott had some skills and i'd go as far as to say he was better skilled then mitchell, vasquez had fought at 140 and 147 he'd gone the distance with alvarez twice and also tim bradley those fights must have taught him a thing or 2 mitchell coming up a weight in a devision he didnt even dominate domestically he hadnt faught any fridge world class operators, he didnt even have a decent european test,
if mitchell wins this he'll win in a scrappy fight holding etc he wont hurt prescott mitchell wasnt a big hitter at 130 as his record may suggests,

I hope I am wrong and this fight really excites me. I want an amazing display from Mitchell but I do not think he can improve to a level that is capable of beating guys above domestic level. He struggled like fuck against a shot out of sorts Carl Johanneson and has no one else on his record and has never really looked impressive.

It's because Prescott is boiling down to make weight. Naturally he should be fighting at least at welterweight given his height.
Gotta go with Prescott simply because this fight will be frequently drawn into a brawl and you have to fancy the bigger puncher in those.

Can't decide who will win this one.
Prescott is ranging and Mitchell is pretty poor at controlling and judging distance.
Mitchell though is fairly good at avoiding left jabs, and Prescott is always overly reliant on that punch.
