Do yall realize Mayweather is on dancing with stars for a reason? It's great exposure for him with this fight. Dancing with stars is second in ratings next to American Idol. Don't be surprised with the PPV buys on this fight. It definitely will be 500k or more. The man is smart, more people will buy because of this show. :good

All those women watching a show about celebrity dancing are bound to order a boxing event. I do agree though it will increase revenue, but I'm not sure to what extent.
What I do know though is Oscar has still killed this event off with that 17,000 capacity arena.

i used to be an amateur boxer, and my elder family members never came to my fights....they don't know sht about boxing. But last night i heard my two aunts talking about mayweather and how stiff he was while he was dancing and he needs more finess. Mayweather has now become a household name.

Mayweather has been doing a pretty good job of promoting himself for a while now - but this is by far one of the better things he could have done to improve his public image. Not only is he a great boxer - but a pretty good business man too.

I agree. Assuming the fight "had to" be made in Vegas, Thomas & Mack would have probably been a better venue.

He did at first, all that 'I don't wanna do this' crap that he did with his dance instructor when they first started off training was very childish in my eyes.
Though I do agree that he is promoting himself very well.

People thought he was stupid for doing this, and thinking he was over looking Hatton............wrong!
No one thought he was stupid in terms of the marketing strategy...it's a great Marketing move! It puts him in the American public Eye every week and there are MILLIONS of veiwes for this show every week. THere's no doubt it can only help his PPV numbers...but with that said...
People were saying it was STUPID because he has a very important fight comming up and with any championship fight...the champion needs to take the fight seriously...not that I think Hatton presents too much of a problem stylwise...but he is a fighter that is a constant pressure who has stamina and is still hungry.
All of those variables can offer some problems to an "ILL-PREPARED" Floyd Mayweather Jr......So this "Marketing strategy" that floyd has implemented prior to his showdown with Hatton while a GREAT financial game plan also is a possible hinderance to his Professional Boxing preparation before on of his biggest fights to date.
The best Mayweather beats the VERY best Hatton 9 times out of 10...but a distracted Mayweather can be upset by a hungry champion even if he is not on the level of Mayweather in terms of skill, talent and pedigree.

dancin with the stars wont affect floyd one bit. One its not like Floyd dances 24hours a day 7 days a week. he probably does dance practice for mayb4 or 5 hours. rest up and then go train. His profession is boxing, he doesnt have anything else to do but boxing. So this wont mss with his training one bit. And floyd trains at weird hours of the day anyway. He wil be 100% focused still.
Another reason why he probably not too worried about hatton is b/c face it, he is just plain better than him, no ways around it. FLoyd is just better than him. I mean im not sayin he should take Hatton likely, cuz n e thing can happen. But Floyd has 100% trust in his boxing ability. And he know what he is capable of, so no need to worry floyd will be focused come fight night

And I dont fault him, in boxing you have to market yourself, if you look at he most successful boxers as far as marketing standpoint they all talk s**t. And people eat it up, so when I see floyd doing this, it doesnt bother me one bit. B/c if I were in the position he was, or anybody here who possessed his skill and was in that situation we would do the same s**t. But if you want to generate real money, you need to do somethin out the ordinary and thats xactly what Floyd is doing to a T. This I fully agree with. I don't see why they can't built a massive stadium to hold mega events. For instance, Floyd vs. Oscar... I wonder how many seats they could have sold if they had used a bigger arena. This one as well.

Agreed....financially it's great....but Floyd isn't one that will take to loosing too much. So "IF" and that's a HUGE IF! If Floyd does somehow manage to loose, the rematch will be even bigger and he will have a door open for a Hatton or a DLH rematch and BOTH will be HUGE events.
I say DLH b/c Hatton will want to fight DLH after his meeting with Floyd and if Hatton does win he will go after DLH for his BIGGEST PAYDAY EVER!.....If Hatton beats DLH he will give Floyd anther rematch for anther BIG payday....or if DLH beats Hatton I'm sure DLH will want to get his revenge on Mayweather for a Big Pay day rematch with Floyd......the money opportunities are endless with these 3 guys...and we can throw in Cotto, Mosley, williams...ect.ect....EXCITING TIMES @ 147:bbb

How can you say that it won't affect Floyd when you don't know floyd personally. Nor do you know his training regimn or his mental demeanor? Floyd is the better fighter with out a doubt...his talent and skills are not to be matched by anyone let alone Hatton, but Floyd can get over confident and he can let his ego take away from his boxing preparations.
Dancing with the stars is HARD dude! It's physically demanding as well as mentally demanding. You have to learn a new routine EVERY week! You have to teach your mind and body to move and balance in ways a normal fella is not use too....Boxing can help Floyd in dancing but I can't really see how Dancing can help his boxing....if anything it will take away from what floyd has mastered in his profession and craft.
Who knows...maybe floyd is that talented that this tv show won't affect him....but Believe me...Hatton will try to take any advantage he can and floyd is giving this one to him. Floyd is CRAMMING all this new information and routines in his head and you have to know that this Show is taking ALOT of his day away. His training is affected by this show one way or anther.
Floyd maybe be that talented and focused to be able to balance trainig for the fight, His trainign for Dancing w/the stars, his partying/clubing and of course his many interviews and business agendas everyday...but floyd is human and I think something will give.
I still have him winning but I'm not counting Hatton out b/c Floyd is spreading himself thin....>VERY THIN!

I agree! He is getting a workout and I think he is a smart and foucused fighter...but I just see this as a distracition...Floyd's footwork was already good.
This foot work isn't going to help him in the ring.....maybe his stamina, but he already had outstanding balnance and footwork with out this tv show.
I think Floyd will win...but Hatton does have a style that could offer a very brutal wake up call.....I wouldn't be saying any of this if Dancing with the stars were not in this equation bc Floyd whoops Hatton 9 tmes out of 10 on talent alone.....let alone bringing the skill variable into the equation......I just don't see how this can help him in the fight.

I seen his training regiment as with the rest of the world from watchin 24/7, so thats how I made my judgement. Dancing can help ya balance in the ring, and its also a good sense of cardio. And what does him having to learn new dance step have to do with him performing in a boxnig ring? Like I said be4 he dont dance 24hours a day, he probably practices for 3 or 4 hours a day, he can rest up for 10 hours if he wants to. Thats still leaves him with another 10 or 11 hours of free time which he can spend training for boxing. Dancing is hard but its not rocket science, to get good at it, just constant repetition thats all.
I g2 school, box, and play other sports when the season comes around. Football, baseball, basketball. I mean its called multi taksing. And floyd is doing 2 things that just require him 2 learn physically, he not doing math, or lcalculu or some crap. Its dancing and boxing, he will b ight

yeah mayweather finally hit mainstream. seen him this year on mtv cribs, vma music awards, and now dancing with the stars. The crazy thing was that my girl wsa paying a bill at JC penny today and told me this old lady was talking about mayweather on dancing with the stars and how he shouldnt have been on the bottom 3 and that he should have been ranked higher than that. She also cracked a racial joke about how hes the only one who could dance (and i dont really need to reitterate what joke she was referring to). She also mentioned he was cocky - pretty funny.

Believe me...what you saw on 24/7 isn't a drop in the bucket of what his training consist of. It was split between DLH and Mayweather in a 30 min show...definitley not enough to base any valid judgement.
Dancing could help a bit with cardio but Floyd's cardio is already 2nd to none...Dancing won't help one bit and the balance for dancing is not the same as a fighters balance in the ring. If anything it could cause balance issues come fight night....Getting too use to dancing footwork can complicate his boxing footwork if they ingrain the dancing technique too much.
Learning a new technique in a entriely new enviornment can take away from focus on training...Dancing and boxing aren't even close to being the same! he has to intake all then new moves, technique, routines and timing which is ALOT to remember and store....something will give eventually.
Dancing is ALOT harder than you think bro! I use to date this latin dancer and she took me to a few of her classes and it's no cake walk buddy. Playing HS sports is one thing...I was the same way...I boxed, played Varsity football and basketball, did Martial Arts and ran track! I was good at everything....but I could have FOCUSED on one sport and been really dominant in one area. I spread myself thin in HS but that was b/c if I wasn't in a sport every season I'd be in even more trouble than I was.
I hope Floyd will be alright....but at the professional level....ELITE level! It takes more than just being talented to stay on top! You have to dedicate yourself to your craft and Floyd is getting a bit cocky....I mean he can back up most of his words, but again....Floyd isn't superman and Hatton could pull an upset if Floyd doens't take him seriously....Not bc Hatton is all that great...He's a good fighter and a good champion, whereas FLoyd is GREAT! But Great fighters loose too! and usually its' b/c they get too confident, over look and ease up on their training. All three of those points are what Floyd embodies right now...we'll see how talented Floyd is!

Certainly exposure is always a smart move and the more he keeps his mouth SHUT the better it will be for him:yep Lets see how he reacts when he gets voted off:D
Of course, this fight will do very well and much of that will be opponent related. Hatton is an equal and perhaps bigger part of the buys:good

:good
If you are P4P no1 and need to go on that shit to sell a fight then you have been promoting yourself badly your whole career.
PBF lacks what propels boxers to crossover: any trace of a likable personality.

Hater? No. You can't see the validity of my argument?? Then that makes you a nut hugger.
The P4P champ should be a huge draw in his own right. Having to go on a popular reality show this close to a big fight, when he should be training, in order to drum up business shows how low boxing has sunk in the public conciousness.
If you applaud that then you are happy with the lowly status that the best sport in the world finds itself in at the moment.
I prefered it when the most famous man on the planet was the heavyweight champ. Nowadays you'd be lucky if three out of ten average joes on the street knew who PBF was and he's the P4P #1.
