How fucking padded is it?
Does he even have a punchers chance?
The guy he fought last, Raul Munoz, was knocked out in 3 by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, but Salita went the full 10 rounds with him.
Is everyone else just watching this for the Prescott-Mitchell fight?

It's about as padded as Khans.

I think its quite substantially worse.
Its truly awful for that amount of fights.

Yep, very padded. He has his managers to thank for his #1 ranking.

I've heard of Grover Wiley and obviously Rocky Martinez, but thats about it...Salita made sure that he took them on right at the end of their careers
Pretty awful, I give him minimal chance.

Also, if Salita's only chance is via KO (as many seem to think) then his recent results don't look good:
- 4 of his last 5 fights have gone the distance.
- 6 of his last 8 fights have gone the distance.
And that's in very poor company.

The prime of Grover Wiley's career was about 1870.:deal

His fight on the Calzaghe-RJJ undercard was put up a few days ago on Youtube.
Watch a few rounds and it will tell you all you need to know about Salita

So is the general consensus that Khan should have done a Vitali and appealed to the WBA for the right to veto?

To be fair i'm not sure that Grover ever really had a prime. His only real claim to fame was that he was Julio Cesar Chavezs last opponent, and beat him on the stool (Chavez had an arm injury I think)

Nah, its not Khans call. Salita is his mandatory for better or worse.

What the fook is that guy gonna do that Kotelnik didn't. Khan's gonna put a jab on his ass and then he'll have shit. He can box like that against a bum but when Khan's speed takes it away from him he'll have to come forward and show some imagination.

A lot of people said same thing about Prescott's record..only one name of note on that in Richard Abril. Salita's record is poor no getting away from it. His recent fights i have noticed a unmotivated fighter gets caught silly shots. Manny Steward said he noticed he doesn't even tighten up his hands at the end of a punch. Hope the lad puts up a good fight...he has decent ability but his old trainer has it right he fight's black...and that's it...he fights with a black style...doesn't really suit him tbh.

But at least Prescott had the massive KO ratio; Salita doesn't even have that.
Its not as if Prescott was ever gonna beat Khan for a UD. That's why they picked him.............admitedly they fucked up in that regard.

Jr got revenge though:

And again he knocked the guy out in 3, the very fight after Salita went the 10 round distance with him (in the middle of a six fight losing streak). Maybe Salita softened him up.

Yeah but he looked poor in his biggest test against Abril and he was knocking out even poorer fighters then Salita's faced. I'm not trying to defend Salita. I just feel people read to much into records when it's the fighters that make the fight. I think it be a entertaining fight while it lasts actually. Salita is'nt shy to tear up and Khan fights on emotions....although under Roach less so but Roach smells a stoppage so should be decent fight.

I still think its foregone conclusion.
Prescott's opposition may have been similar, but at least he was knocking them out. There doesn't seem to be that "danger" factor with Salita.
I predict Salita is as clueless as Kotelnik when confronted with Khan. He's used to fighting at a snail pace against bums. That's okay, but Khan is going to dominate him from the outside so then we'll see what he's got. I reckon Salita will get desperate and countered and stopped

Yep i agree totally on that. Plus watching the Munoz clip he seems to have real trouble with straight punches in bunches. He just doesn't know how to deal with them. May be he's fighting unmotivated which he has admitted before but i agree. Khan's huge favorite for this. Salita will produce a better fight then Kotelnik did as he more naturally aggressive but that may be to his detriment imo.

I am thinking Salita is in for a shock after the 1st round, Khan's handspeed will shock him. Salita's defence is leaky and he hold's his left real low and Khan will land lots of shots. If Khan see's him hurt in the 1 or 2 rounds then he will go for the kill. I dont see the fight going past 6 rounds.

Add on to the fact Salita was getting dropped by a few of them.

Thought the same that Salita's record didnt have a single decent name on it and most of the guys he fought had a multitude of losses against their names. The guys movement in suspect too and I agree with other posts that he may not be able to deal with Khan's speed early on. TBH I am looking forward to the Prescott fight more as at least we know he has a punchers' chance and could spark Mitchell. Hopefully he wont though!
He was indeed shite BUT very good performance from Khan.

That's the key point for me as well. Let's not be after-timers, we all knew Salita's title shot was a little bit dodgy, but Khan had a job to do and did it in emphatic fashion. If anything, Khan proved tonight that he actually is a class above average level world fighters and that he is now ready for a step up with the big boys. Let's see how he does when he gets there, but I'm very excited about what the future holds for Khan.

Salita was KO'd in 1 round by a fighter who was 2-1 (1) in his last 3 fights.
