I'm watching Miranda-Pavlik. I've never seen the build up to the fight. I'm watching it now and Mirandas life is AWFUL.

Abandoned as a baby, brought up by a random until 9, travelled the country looking for his mum, found her only to be abandoned because she'd remarried, slept on the street, had to find, kill and eat CATS to feed himself...

...then he found boxing.

His story is inspirational. I partially want him to succeed because someone in that position deserves a break.

You think that's crazy, you should check out Fernando Angulo's back story...his parents were abusive, so he ran away when he was 7 and lived in the jungle for 2 years, subsisting on whatever he could kill (or if the hunt went poorly, insects and snakes), and then went back and forth between living in the jungle and living in civilization (homeless as well) until he was 16.

You think thats crazy you should see how Mayorga grew up and trains for fights. They drop him off in the middle of the Pacific ocean in shark infested water with squid taped to his body and make him swim 4000 miles back to civilization where he is met at the beach by 14 starved pitbulls that havent been fed for 22 days.

Matthew Saad Muhammad was taken for a walk by his brother when he was 3 or something and left there. It was deemed he was a burden on the family (extra kid and all).

Pryors childhood is AWFUL! Probably the worst I've ever read about. I think he was raped by the priest, all his bros and sis's are druggies, alcholics etc No mum and dad. Everything that can go wrong went wrong.

Yeah, I have watched a few profiles of mirandas life, & as you say its very sad. Not only did he hunt cats for food, but he would live off roadkill, too.

& hearing how he would sleep in the boxing ring of his mosquito infested as a young lad & how the mosquitos would feed off his blood night after night leaving him in agony... Quite unbelievable. & what was strange was how he had never even seen a boxing match or even a boxing ring in his life but had a dream about fighting in one which made him seek out a boxing career, crazy stuff indeed.

But Achilles, be warned. Miranda is a Mayweather type character in the build up to fights, so you might go off him a bit if you see his pre-fight antics!

a lot of people wanted pavlik to beat him to a pulp mainly because of his pre fight trash talking. it's how the sport is though, if you want to make money for yourself. miranda from what i've read is good guy away from the camera, and always makes time for his fans.

I read that Miranda had to drink his own urine and eat the plants on the side of the road. I'm not kidding either. I think it was in Ring Magazine about a year ago. It may have been written around the time he fought Eastman. It's really not a joking matter.

His pre fight antics are good and bad. Sometimes I love em, sometimes I hate em. Still publicity and that matters.

I respect his struggle though. Its sad when we live in a world where people have to come from such a low standard of living. Its a feel good story.

Forget his past, I worry about Mirandas future- he took a beating from Pavlik, the kind that leaves boxers with brain injuries. What was so apparent was Mirandas lack of boxing skills. His management need to choose his opponents carefully at Super middle or else

Yeah man. Puts alot of our problems into perspective but then again it's not good to make downward comparisons to make ourselves feel better. It was just an unfortunate situation and luckily it's over for him.
