I know all the talk is about Taylor Vs Pavlik at the moment, but what about this fight between Clinton Woods and Julio Cesar Gonzalez? I know they've fought already and this rematch doesn't exactly set the pulses racing, but what is your prediction? Woods won a fairly close UD the last time they fought 2 years ago. Does anyone see anything different this time around?
My verdict: Woods UD12 Gonzalez
Woods looked on the verge of being stopped in his last fight against Glenn Johnson (although he managed to hold on for a SD). Is he ready to be taken out by Gonzalez who has won his last 3 (2 KOs) since the 1st Woods fight, and will be determined to avenge his loss? Perhaps, but I say that Woods holds on to his title with another close decision victory.
Anyone see it differently?

Have to agree , Woods by UD . Woods was on the verge of being stopped by Johnson , but he didn't hold on for a win . He rallied winning the last 3 rounds to take the fight .
Hopefully winning here can get Woods a big fight(other than Johnson) .

I think he's contractually obligated to fight Johnson if he wins, though.

He is but I think Johnson may be looking another route . If Johnson wants the fight he has it(and after how good the 3rd fight was I certainly won't mind seeing it) but seeing that he is fighting Anthony Hanshaw it may indicate that Johnson wants the winner of Jones v Trinidad .
As I've said , I certainly wouldn't mind Woods v Johnson IV but for Woods sake I hope he can get Tarver as I think Woods would beat him and the next man to beat Tarver is going to get a good lot of respect and opportunities seeing that Tarver is still quite a big name at Light-Heavy .

What do you mean by 'these days'? Has Gonzalez depreciated markedly since his 'prime'? He may be entering his prime now, no?
Woods is almost certainly past his best although he claims that he's injury and pain free for the first time in years. Apparently he fought through elbow pain in their first bout and still won so he should be able to comfortably outpoint Gonzalez this time.
But it's a relatively low profile fight against a guy he's already beaten, and Clinton must be receiving a relatively low purse so will he be motivated enough to be at his best in this rematch?

Woods past his best ? , I dunno about how his recovery from injury has gone but so far in his career Woods has been like a fine wine and improved with age .
Take his performances against Delisle 18 months apart , Woods looked much better the second time and the only fight he's had since then was Johnson where I thought he looked very good and certainly no way on the slide .

Well, the votes are 26-6 in Woods' favour so you could be right. But what I want to know is - what does Manny Steward think? :yep

I see what you mean. I wouldn't mind seeing Woods/Tarver at all if Johnson goes another route.
I'll bet Woods and Johnson are pretty sick of each other by now, anyway.

I would appreciate a comment from those who voted for Gonzalez by decision or TKO/KO. On what basis do you think he will beat Woods? Considering that Woods beat him last time while carrying an injury which he is apparently free of this time around?
How will Gonzalez get the better of Woods this time?

'Just as I expected , Woods slipped and fell forward into Gonzalez causing a clash of heads and the fight being stopped after 20 seconds......it was obvious' .
