View Full Version : Winky deserves a huge payday...why won't DLH mention him?
Winky has paid his dues in this game...i just wanna know when DLH is gonna man-up and give Winky his well deserved huge payday...Winky has beaten everyone that DLH couldn't beat except Hopkins, and i'm sure Winky can still make 154...if DLH is gonna continue fighting, he should see either Winky or Forrest before he leaves...

Because Oscar can make more money in more winnable fights against smaller opponents.

Exactly. Why fight a tricky fighter like Winky, and risk looking bad or getting beat, when you can beat up on the Ricardo Mayorgas of the world and make just as much money??:yep

i know that...but DLH cares about his legacy somewhat, and what better way to offset the losses to Mosley and Tito than fight Winky...and it's a winnable fight for DLH at 154, his greater handspeed would allow him to land when Winky has his high guard up...if not Winky, DLH should at least fight Forrest at 154 because we know DLH can't make welter to save his life...

So, who should Winky realistically be gunning for if he wants a big payday?
Is there any chance he could get one of the other middleweight champions to fight him?
I don't think Winky should go back down to 154 for anything other than oscar, i wouldn't be suprised if he has bulked up so much that making 154 would leave him completely drained
Is there anyone at 168 who will fight him?
I think he could still whoop some ass at 168...
winky-miranda, anyone?

Oscar making more lucrative bouts against smaller opponents means more to him than the opportunity to beat Winky Wright for less dollars. Otherwise he would've seen Wright and Oscar go at it.
Winky would walk down the street in Oscar's secret wardrobe with HBO cameras on him if it meant he would get a DLH fight.

DLH is running out of options, NO ONE wants to see DLH/Mosley III...and DLH already said he won't fight any more Boriqua's, so that rules out Cotto and Tito...Vargas can't even make 160...so that leaves Forrest, Winky, or a rematch with PBF(because we all KNOW Hatton can't beat PBF)

I wouldn't take his talk about not fighting a Rican seriously.
Oscar also said he wouldn't fight Mosley, Mayweather, and Vargas.

Thinking about this match up and I think it is a good one for DLH. While Winky is never going to be an easy fight for any one. I think it is a winnable fight for DLH. Winky is respected by boxing fans, and it is boxing fans that will make up the majority of people who will pay to see a boxing match as oposed to sports fans in genral.
There are probbly other opoents that are easier for DLH and/or have bigger names, but Winky should be considered as an opoent by DLH.
Winky is also held in high regard by boxing "experts" so it would also be a chance for DLH to have one last big win.
What the f*ck does Winky's want of $ have to do with ODLH?

Winky has made far too much money for how boring of a fighter he is. He paid his dues, but he got some really big fights. I wouldnt want to see him fight Oscar, hell I cant think of one fight I would want to see him in right now, maybe Sam Peter. Id like to see how long it would take for Peter to crack his turtle shell.

Agreed.
Anyone who takes the shit Oscar says seriously is in for a life of confusion. He says one thing and does another regularly, so don't be surprised to see him go back on this.

i thnk the reason this fight wont happen is because one... DLH is waiting for the winner on PBF hatton... also DLH knows he has maby 3 good Big fights left in him... while winky would be a good win... its the most boring fight he could win... meaning if he losses ppl say he doesnt have it ne more an if he wins he looks like crap doing it....look what they were saying about hopkins after the winky fight.. saying he has like maby 1 good fight left with him.... i take nothng away from winky but he doesnt have the most fan friendly fighting style.... Cotto vs DLh is a fight i wanna see... i thnk DLH Ko's him under 10 .... but i thnk mosley will KO him first....

Plain and simple, Oscar wants absolutely nothing to do with Winky, who would completely shut him down.

Oscar is not obligated to fight Winky just so Winky can make a lot of money. The Golden Boy can be legitimately criticized for some things, but I won't rip him for not giving somebody else a big pay day because they "deserve" it. Did Winky deserve a shot at the Light heavy championship? Probably not, but he got it and made good money doing it.
Having said that, I think it would be a good fight. If it's at 154, I think Oscar wins a close decision, but it's a hard one to predict. Would have been a better fight a few years ago.

Oscar is waiting on the winner of Mayweather & Hatton and hoping its Hatton. Don't be suprised if Hatton gets a controversal decision from the Golden Boy judges.
It is very likely he'll fight the winner or Cotto if Cotto beats Mosley down the line but Hatton-Mayweather is the focus. Mosley-Delahoya 3 may happen down the line.

If winky really deserved a good payday, he wouldn't need DLH to get it.

Oscar should have fought Wright after he beat Vargas back in 2002.
