If that's the case that's really ridiculous. Why on Earth would you want to dry out for a HW fight?! For goodness sake you don't have to make weight what was the point of dehydrating yourself?

He trusted Saddler. I don't believe he did that when they parted ways but it may have had a detrimental effect on him for the Ali and Young losses. Taking nothing away from those guys and their wins over George.

If this is 110% true. It is simply embarassing. Why the fuck would a man who dosent have to make a certain weight limt, dehydrate himself and dry out, when he could drink as much water as he felt he needed? :huh:patsch

How is getting in the ring dehydrated and dryed out a advantage? He is simply putting Foreman's health at a risk....

What a silly method..........:-(

Absolutely. Stupid and dangerous and unnecessary on all levels. What mystifies me even more about this is Saddler was brothers or cousins with the Sandy Saddler. Sandy was in George's corner at some point even. I wonder if he knew about this crap.

Foreman also said that Ali called him up after Norton kayoed Bobick begging Foreman to come back to boxing because Ali didnt want to meet Norton for a fourth time. Foreman also said his water tasted like medicine in Zaire....

...And it's all suspect, okay, but maybe true just the same. We'll probably never know.

Drying out can make you faster, though overall it's a bad idea.

I like to dry out a bit myself a little bit before getting in the ring, if you've taken a bodyshot with a load of water in you and needed a shit with a few rounds to go you'll know why

It wouldn't explain the loss to Jimmy Young, because at that point Foreman was with Gil Clancy, who I'm sure wouldn't allow such foolishness. It might help to explain the loss to Ali.

In general, I think Foreman was a better fighter once he got rid of Saddler. Clancy got him to straighten up his punches, conserve his energy and wear down opponents systematically, as well as improving his jab and right hand.
