His skills are a bit raw, and he'll be 32 in those Olympics, but I think he has a chance!

He's in great general shape which is a good place to start and with more training he may go far. Desire and willingness to improve are the best attributes in boxing imo.

Nah, I'll never turn pro, even if I was good enough and had the opportunity. 32 is way too old to become a successful pro, anyway. I'm actually getting into film making, and me training, going out for the olympics, and hopefully winning for the US will all be part of my first film...heh heh.

I bought one of those too. I hate it. But I guess is ok if you just want to sweat a lil. But if you really want to improve your boxing, here is my advice: Take the punching bag and hang it from the roof. Right now is too low and it doesn't allow you to move around. The speed bag will work better if you but a couple of sand bags on top of it.
You do the 1-2 ok in the punching bag, but you are allowing your hands to go too low while hitting the speed bag. Keep them up!

How many amateur fights do you have?
You have to join a gym man, doing that in a home gym will not get you where you want to be.

Mediocre is right, keep at it though. You're in good physical shape, so that's a great start. Get in the gym and spar though.

Not according to my coach, but that is something I might have to look into. Don't those Cuban boxers go to like, 4 olympic games in a row? That means that even if they go to their first at age 18...they'd be 34 in their fourth.

Me and you both will be bringing back the gold... hope you're not trying to do it at 165. I got that spot locked up. I have my first tournament starting on jan 9th... I'll post some videos so you can see what ur up against ;)
i see you have some of those perfect pushup things, what do you think of them ? do you recommend getting them ?

165? Hell no! Do I look like I weigh 165? No, I'm trying to see what I can do at 140...

They are what they are. It makes it feel like the pushups are easier, which makes me feel like I'm cheating, but they do supposedly give you better form. I'd recommend them if push ups are your thing.

Is this true? I always wondered why my speedbag doesn't have the proper rebound that it should. This is something that I'm definitely going to try. How many bags should I buy, and at what weight do you think will work best?
Sorry to threadjack op, but keep it up though.
