Typical Ahumada here, moving around smoothly and cageily before figuring Cassidy out and stepping in to knock him senseless. He went on later that year to get robbed blind against an aging Foster (retiring him) before losing out over the distance to the peaking Conteh in a barnburner. His only other title shot after that was the UD loss to Galindez, whom he'd already lost to a couple of times and beaten once.
Excellent fighter - maybe one of the best light heavies never to win the title, who was quite close to Galindez in style with the ability to brawl or counterpunch equally well. One of the great road warriors from that era along with the likes of Aguilar, Lopez and Galindez himself. He'd be the dominant force today.
