I watched abit of this fight yesterday, and i must say..
I was very impressed with Jean Pascal......
Against Carl Froch, i was frustrated with his work..and i felt like he was neglecting straight punches..especially his back hand.
I still feel he could of made things, much easier against Carl Froch if he just made that little technically adjustment...
Carl Froch beat a very very good fighter..!
Insted he went mental, with wide..swing shots.
There's nothing better than, clean laser like straight punches..hitting the target..!
I don't know why he has moved up to Light Heavyweight, because it is quite a shit division......
I just thought i would, give this man some credit.
I just think he's a bad man..
Very very good fighter...

Yep he's good...he loves to square up in weigh in's...intense guy.
Great speed...takes plenty of liberties with it but he's a good fighter...especially when he lets hands go.
Froch's jab killed him off in the end...but Jean has a great chin to go with the speed. If he added some defensive skills and some fundamentals he could develop into a top champion.

He's a real sound chap though. Met him twice at the Froch-Dirrell fight and he even shooed away his Missus during our second encounter and said 'I'm talking to my friend here, two minutes' when she tugged at his suit jacket to leave.

I asked him if he wanted Dawson, and he said 'next year I want all the belts'.
I think he can beat Dawson to be honest. Best fight in the division is Cloud vs Pascal though.

After the Froch fight he won me as a fan. Just watched Diaconu-Pascal I properly on saturday night and again heart and chin is immense. Yep Cloud and him would be a epic battle. Deffo wanna see that in 2010.

Yeh Jean Pascal is abit wild, needs to make his work more neat..!
I'm not a big fan of the swinging, wide shots...
In this fight, he was using his straight right hand more often..

I doubt he could beat Dawson..
Chad Dawson, will drill him into the ground with powerfull straight shots..!
Jean Pascal just need's to be more technical..!

Dawson is a feather fist.
Pascal CAN be hurt but he is fast in his own right, and can mix up his approach. Dawson CANNOT fight; Pascal can. If he can rough Dawson off and put him off his gameplan then he can start to build his own rhythm.
If Dawson re-establishes his jab, Pascal goes back to war. For a supposedly elusive boxer Dawson is hittable.

Likewise, met him at the weigh-in and had a chat with him at the fight the following day. They wanted to get a shot of him and the ring girls but he shooed them for us. Absolute legend. A warrior gentleman.

He really is a great guy. Been a fan since the Froch fight and he keeps improving. I could see him unifying belts in the near future.

Very good fighter. Remember watching the Pittman fight and thinking Miranda would murder him luckily for Miranda that was a bad night and put his promoter off the fight. Would prefer too see him at super middle mixing it with better fighters a fight with Cloud or Dawson would be a good watch.

At Light Heavy. Super Middle isn't really an option with the Super Six going on at the moment, but I could see him beating Cloud. The real shame is that he's afraid to let his right arm go more in fear of his injury - hope it doesn't cause him too many problems in the future.

Yup. Very quickly becoming one of my fav fighters. Bit more power would be nice but since Froch all his fights have been great to watch.

It says something about the guy when he goes over to Nottingham, in Froch's backyard....and basically goes toe to toe for the title. Very good win for Froch. Pascal maybe shoulda used better tactics maybe but he showed he was for real.

T has a point though, Froch managed to get him under control with the Jab and Dawson has a good jab too , Dunno if its as heavy as frochs but ....
I'll be cheering for Pascal !

Pascal an outstanding fighter ive had money on him since the froch fight ... he is a warrior and boxing with the injury over the weekend shows the blokes will to win ...
Would love to see a rematch with Froch one day and Frochs victory shows maybe how good Froch is in that type of battle - hence he will beat Kessler !
But yup Pascal has a fan in me ... good luck to the guy and a fight against Tavoris Cloud in 2010 could as a spectacle be the fight of the Year ....

Seems a decent bloke by all accounts, and I bet he was better than we were all expecting against Froch.
That fight was an edge of the seat barn burner, which should have itself lead to a decent TV deal for Froch. Name me a better terrestrial TV fight of the last 10 years!

Pascal's going to be avery exciting fighter to watch over the next few years. He's already been in several cracking fights and there's loads out there for him. There's Dawson obviously but also the SMW's will move up and wouldn't be surprised to see him moving up to Cruiser as well.

I would give Pascal a chance in either of those fights. I think he can hang with the best around.

Dawson would outbox him all night long on his way to a decision. Chad is the real deal. Pascal is good, exciting and seems a top top fella but I dont think he's particularly great at anything.
Dawson isn't feather fisted either. He's had 4 UD's in a row over Glen JohnsonX2 and Antonio TarverX2 who have a grand total of 1 KO loss combined in their careers.
You are going to see more power from Dawson against opponents that are susceptible.

Pascal has a lot of stong athletic attributes, but, as evidenced against Froch, he isn't tactically astute, against the very best (Dawson, Hopkins) , he will probably lose, that doesn't mean he can't continue to be a good fighter, and have a succesful career though.

I met Jean at the Commenwealth games as he was training in my gym at the time (Rotunda) He was a top kid, I liked him, He's a good fighter and I think he's done great but I don't see him beating Dawson but I give him and Cloud as a 50/50 fight.. :good

Agreed. He had trouble getting inside of Branco's jab and Froch's jab, how's he going to get inside Dawson's jab? If Pascal could get inside and turn it into a brawl, he'd have a chance. Dawson's worst habit is his reluctance to fire back when the other guy is throwing.

The Froch fight won Pascal a lot of fans in the UK, and it's been good to see him continuing to prosper after it. Froch-Pascal too down the line could definitely be a lot of fun.

Dawson takes time off though, and Pascal can take that time to put the pressure on.
Why I fancy Pascal is that he has shown he can fight AND box. Dawson hasn't. Tarver and Johnson, whilst decent wins, were the usual wins a new champ gets over the relics of a previous top ten.
Dawson has talent, no doubt; I just don't see him as the de facto no.1 at 175lbs at the moment; bar Hopkins, it's wide open IMO :good

as much as chad dawson fails to excite me i agree with the general consensus that pascal would get schooled, i think pascal is a world class fighter, but he seems to have chin problems at 175 diconou caught him a couple of times and he was hurt, i think he'd be better suited at 168 if he can still make it

Nah, he was hurt early on at 168. I feel he's sturdier at the weight; supposedly was killing himself to make super-middle.
Personally I don't think any of the Light-Heavys around at the moment would hang with someone like.........Yaqui Lopez.
It's fairly interesting though, the matchups that COULD be made. Shumenov-Campillo 2 is soon as well I think (STILL looking for their first fight in full if anyone has it :good)
