Wow, I thought Pavlik was a much taller man than Taylor, obviously not. Both look in fine health for this fight - should be a great fight

From what I have seen from the post fight vid, Taylor still doesn't seem to take his boxing serious enough - let alone Pavlik. Could be wrong but it won't change the "facts" that Pavlik will win this.

We'll see just like I told people before the PBF-Oscar fight when people said Oscar by KO. It's not wise to bet on a KO when a fighter has never been knocked down or really even hurt in the ring...some will never learn.:-( When you step up in class like Pavlik is doing he will find that Taylor won't fold from the first flush shot, like Miranda or Zertuche, this happens when you step up in class. Kelly's a bit slouched over, and Taylor is standing up as straight as possible (look at the backs). I think Kelly's a little taller.

Taylor has been hurt before, and it was by a one punch lunging shot , Hopkins hit him with. Taylor managed to not get hurt by avoiding all punchers ,and fighting featherfisted and smaller fighters like Spinks, Wright, Ouma. And just every other fighter Taylor has fought , even coming up as prospect , has been weak punching. We may find out the reason why Taylor loved fighting smaller and feather punching fighters , when he gets hit by Pavlik.

pimp c-yes there is a lot more to boxing than power and JT doesn't have much of "a lot more". He is not a perticularly good defensive fighter, he is fast-but not amazingly so, his ring intelligence would put him in Mrs. Johnsons 4th period remedial group, his skills are so-so. He's basicaly a very good athlete, with some decnt boxing ability and heart. It's not like Pavlik is fighting a middleweight Mayweather. I see a competative tough fight with pavlik scoring a late round tko.

He was somewhat hurt against Hopkins but not out on his feet. It was fatigue more than anything. Hopkins is ATG a true throw back 15 round fighter that would have stopped Winky and Tarver if fights still were 15 rounds long. Taylor's chin is fine you can't take it away from him. Pavlik has been dropped Taylor hasn't. Pavlik hasn't fought a boxer as good as Taylor so I can say the samething about Kelly. How will he react when he's in there with someone with better skills not to mention the psychological edge Taylor has over Pavlik because of his win in the amatuers.

NO. that motherfucker is anerexic. I dont know what you are smoking If I was taylor I would go to the body. That looks to be a weaker spot then trying to bounce it off Pavliks good chin.

That's a good point, although I don't think Pavlik even thinks about that. 7 years ago, Pav was only 17 at the time and Taylor was 21 and even then, sources say it wasn't a blowout.
Yep It's always in the back of your mind I don't care who you are or how long ago it was. You're still going to have to face the test and say am I good enough or does this guy just have my number.

What puncher has Taylor ever fought? Any? Taylor has fought good fighters , but most of them have been smaller & pitifully weak punchers. Hopkins is the hardest puncher he fought, even at that , almost all his KO's come by late rounds after landing many shots to wear down opponents, not one punch power. One punch power is what Taylor is going to feel against Pavlik.

The problem I see that Taylor wants to fight every light punching fighter he can possibly find. Why is that, is Taylor hiding something?
Taylor wanted to fight Sergio Mora (has like 3 ko's in 20 wins), Mora didnt want the fight, so he brings in Cory Spinks ( a very light punching WW). Taylor has not fought a single dangerous puncher ever. Why is that?

Who knows it happens to be the best fighters at 160 weren't devastating punchers example Hopkins or Winky but he's fighting Kelly now a guy who many said he wouldn't fight. You guys act as if Taylor has a glass jaw or something like he's been dropped multiple times or hurt multiple times, if he did Hopkins hits hard enough and would have exposed it.

Hopkins wasnt throwing any god damn punches , and is not a one punch fighter, he has to wear down opponents. The two fights were terrible. Little can be told about a fighters chin in snooze fest, with barely punches thrown or landed.
I will just say this , if you have a very skilled fighter, but he has a weak chin. Perhaps Taylor, he could of not possibly been matched any better to protect his chin. His managers want fights like Mora, Spinks, Wright (good fighters with absolutely no power) they are fighting Pavlik because they have to.
I just gotta go with Pavlik because of his confidence. I know he hasn't faced the competition Taylor has but has anyone seen his interview on Maxboxing round table??? This guy just seems so damn confidant and determined.....just chilling knowing that a lot of people are going to be eating their words come Sunday. Taylor seems very unsure of himself....facing all these awkward fighters in a row has really sapped his confidence.
Kelly seems like a really intelligent guy. I feel like he is also going to turn it up in the later rounds as he does not want to be another victim of "Bad Decisions". We'll find out in about 25 hours!

Taylor looks absolutely fantastic! I think he looks better here than inpast fights He is more ripped and lean, which is what you need. Pavlik looks only so-so IMO. It sort of looks like Pavlik really struggled to make weight.
Taylor will win this fight convincingly. He will put on his best performance as champion. Styles make fights, and he is not fighting one of the most difficult defensive fighters in history, like he did with Wright, Hopkins and Spinks.

Yeah i think taylor's managment was putting him in there with fether fists more becauso of a lack of focus then a bad chin cause you can get away with a lack of focus if you are facing someone that can't punch provided your a better boxer then they are. Against a puncher your fucked.
Jermain will be focused for this one though. But it might take him some rounds to get his confidence up because like one of the above posters said it looks like fighting all these awkward guys has sapped his confidence a bit.
Pavlik has to start early.
Although this forum is split down the middle on this fight it looks like over 70% of boxing writers are picking taylor.

Wrong. Pavlik is just a solid, B level MW boxer-puncher, nothing like a Monzon.
Taylor is also B level compared to the real P4P elite, he's nothing to be impressed with and never has been.

As I said...nothing like Monzon. Hense my post.
About the second thing. Taylor has better footwork (he actually has great footwork), better movement, a better jab, uses better leverage on his punches, is more accurate, etc.
Kelly is stronger and hits harder.
Hense my post again.
But I think again you arent looking at the big picture here. How many fighters would look to be a B level fighter against Hopkins, Winky, Ouma and Spinks? Just about anyone if you ask me.
You will see in just under 24 hours bro.

I think this will be a competitive fight. When the fight was announced I went with Pavlik but as the fight draws closer I am starting to sway toward Taylor. I still pick Pavlik, but only just.

Who do you think is the best Middleweight boxer today? Taylor? Pavlik? Sturm? Abraham? ? ? ? ?
Well of those that you named.....Abraham, then Sturm (tho I feel he is RIDICULOUSLY overrated), then Taylor..................................THEN PAVLIK.
Pavlik isnt a good boxer. His fundamentals are awful. Footwork, movement, etc. They are not good at all.
I do think he is a really good FIGHTER....dont get me wrong. He has a good chin, very good power in both hands, high output, etc. But as a boxer, he is leaps and bounds BELOW Taylor.

Jermain is a former Olympian. That means he is a master tactician/technician.
Samuel Peter is also a former Olympian. Does that mean he is a master tactician/technician?

Wrong. Pavlik is just a solid, B level MW boxer-puncher, nothing like a Monzon.
Taylor is also B level compared to the real P4P elite, he's nothing to be impressed with and never has been.
This is a B level fight.
The two best middleweights today fighting against each other. It may be B-level in terms of the entire history of the sport's All Time Greats, but it's very significant here and now.
The winner, incidentally, will be A level regardless of how you define it.

I think when they square off in the ring, Pavlik will be the substantially bigger guy despite these pics.
He's going to grow overnight ?

Pavlik is 6'3, Taylor might be under 6'1". Pavlik was very relaxed at the weigh-in and wasn't concerned with straightening his back so he could stare down Taylor. He's not worried about him.
Pavlik at the weigh in was 6'2 and Taylor was 6'1. Pavlik has a reach of 75", Taylor 74".
Not much of a difference there at all. I DOUBT he was relaxed and slouched...as many of the people are saying. They are just similar sized....only Jermain looks RIPPED!

I definitely don't think he's taken this fight lightly. But I dunno, to me he looks the same as he did in other fights

Hopkins 1 was his big shot. OF COURSE he is gonna come prepared. This weigh in, he looks, for the first time...like he did then.
RIPPED!

I think so too.

Taylor looks almost overworked, too tight.
Pavlik looks as usual, loose. Which is very good for boxing. I think he'll get the stoppage.
I dont see that at all. They both appear to be in peak condition.
Its funny how some people see what they want to see .

I like Jermaine Taylor inside of 10 rounds!
Speed and skill will be the difference, and Pavlik will not be facing the wide looping shots that were telegraphed from Edison Miranda.
A great night for Jermaine Taylor that will quiet a few of the naysayers!

The guy has ZERO muscle definition. You would never believe how this guy can bang when you havent seen it yourself.

Well, Taylor is a boxer-puncher stylistically, he's not a sound defensive boxer at all. Skill wise, the fight is pretty close, people are just judging from Taylor's opposition.
so skill wise the fight is close but you stated before on another thread that pavlik should be a 10/1 favourite over Jermain? whats the matter amsterdam, bold predictions that you think everyone has forgotten? not feeling so confident of a pavlik win all of a sudden? maybe to save some face in case of a pavlik loss? sorry to be so rude man but that was a dumb statement. The odds should be 60/40 Jermain, and I think taylor by knockout

I think its nice seein Jermain fight someone just close to his size. i think this is the first time ive seen him fight when he's not gonna look huge compared to the person he's fighting

Nah, Taylor looks the same. I don't see any difference from previous fights.
No way. I see a lot more definition than ever before.

I haven't seen enough kelly pavlik wieghins to be able to say for sure but he looks fine to me.
?
I wasn't saying he didn't look fine, I was just responding that I don't think his arms are much longer than Taylor's.

Taylor by UD I can't believe so many are falling for the hype. People are so blinded by power that they overlook everything else.:-( Look at the complete package people there's more to boxing than just power!:deal
It's more than power - it's Taylor's mediocrity. At the world class level, he can't beat ANYONE convincingly, even fighters moving up from lower weight classes - guys, who, I might add, have been specifically selected because they don't hit hard.:yep
Pavlik is gonna show exactly WHY Taylor has faced nothing but light-hitters moving up from lower weight classes since Hopkins rocked him. Tonight, the HBO hype-job and his shaky chin get EXPOSED!! :nod

Don't get me wrong, it's nice to look Ripped and everything, but we all know who's got the power advantage in this one.
So not building muscle is probably in Pavlik's advantage. He's already got the power, extra muscle ain't necessary.

Well of course muscle doesnt always translate power....agree totally there. And I also agree that Pavlik is the harder puncher. But from a pure readiness standpoint, Taylor looking THAT RIPPED (probably the best he has looked pre-fight since the first Hopkins fight) shows that he is up to the chalenge so to say.

Taylor looks to be in great shape. I still think he is going to try and go toe to toe to remove that chip from his shoulder. I believe that plays right into Kelly's corner.
