Tommy Hearns for me. Ticks all the boxes.

I'm sure this has probably been done before but I'm interested to see which fighters all you knowledgable boxing historians will pick.

Well documented already that I'm of the opinion that Marco Antonio Barrera is among some of the very finest human beings to have graced the planet. Just loved the way he'd go in there with a face looking like an aztec statue and methodically break down his opponent.

Muhammad Ali. It's impossible to think of my youth without him springing to mind, somewhere or other.

Arguello; as Pugilists go, he ticks all the boxes, vulnerable to a degree that he couldn't just rest on his natural advanatges (pure boxers gave him hassle) but his punching form is superb, and has a top 5 dig in either fist.

A true Gentleman to his opponents as well; add to that a damn fine resume and his participation in possibly the greatest fight of all time and you can see why I adore the man so much.

RIP Alexis.

Very close behind him, Joe Louis.

Duran, the fact that he is widely regarded as being one of the best offensive boxers of all time whilst also having an ATG defence which is often overlooked does it for me.

Other fighters I considered were Hearns, Sal Sanchez and Morales and as far as active fighters go I could watch Pacman and Sugar Shane all day.

this may sound bizarre but i was at all his fights from 1980-1982 and there was no more exciting guy: Frank "The Animal" Fletcher. Along w/ seeing Franklin, Duran, Briscoe and Hamsho live, "The Animal" was worth every penny for every ticket spent. :rasta

If this thread was called "Who do you think is the greatest boxer of all time?" then Sugar Ray Leonard wouldn't have been in the photograph above. However, as the question is regarding my "favourite" of all time, he is.

He is part of my youth and played an unbelieveable role in the development of my love of boxing.

Muhammed Ali has really small thighs.

Maybe he could have been a bigger puncher than he was.

Great pick Morlocks those are some of mine as well. I loved the job Hamsho did on Benitez

what a great throwdown that was. the anticipation was terrific. when "The Animal" started to turnit around about 20 seconds after he was staggered inthe 3rd, Green's fans started to be a little sick. If you watch, right after he's staggered he starts in on his best combo, the right hook, left uppercut one two. He tore Singletary apart with thisn punch and started seriously f233445ing up green with it. Another great thing was beating Duva's fighter again (earlier Braxton). I never liked his fighjters or him and a month later got to see Hamsho kick Baby Bobby Czyz' ass out of the middleweight division. :rasta

Hearns. Flawed Genius.

He was the guy who got me hooked, devastating puncher yet always susceptible to the KO himself. Remember watching a two year old replay of the first Barkley fight and having trouble comprehending what I'd just seen. If I could choose one guys style to emulate, hes the one, despite bearing no physical resemblance in the slightest.

Easy. I don't have one. But somewhere at the top would be Joe Frazier and Marvin Hagler. I won't name names but if certain fighters now that have the natural physical gifts also had their drive, that hunger, that competitor's spirit, some of them have the physical tools to be legends and they'll end up footnotes at the most. I have a profound appreciation for guys like Hagler and Frazier whenever I see one of these types step into the ring. I appreciate them more every year.

Though he never really peaked and had a world of potential I still don't think that he would of been able to beat many of the true upper echelon of lightweight ATG's for various reasons. All the same though he was a sight to behold in the ring.

Marvelous Marvin Hagler.. the true definition of a fighter. Hard worker, hard guy, always in shape, always a tough night for anyone because Hagler cannot be knocked out at middleweight. Had that "Me vs the World" attitude after getting robbed in the Antuofermo fight.

He was also mean, intimidating, versatile (but sometimes lacked a B plan), mobile (in his prime), fast enough, powerful and vicious when came the time to close the show. My all-time fav by a mile.

I guess I'll be the first to say it: Mike Tyson.

Ok, my flame suit is on!

Being a fan of Mike seems to be looked down upon because so many casual fans like him. I definitely don't think he is the greatest overall boxer ever, and he had limitations, but I do think he is a Top 10 ATG, and he did things in the ring I haven't seen before or since. His story is fascinating, in and out of the ring.

Foreman during his comeback...iam a young guy and I remember that clearly. Just his whole demeanor walking into the ring knowing he could school these young guys. The fight with Evander made me a fan of the sport, George took some bombs off that big old head of his, combos to the body, and just kept coming and managed to land a few of his own against a guy who was in his prime.

Tito Trinidad.

I don't think I ever seen him initiate a clinch, he rarely took a backward step and he never wanted to quit.

He would get knocked down a lot but that only added to the excitement. Genuine ko power meant the knockout could come at any moment. When you add his undeniable charisma into the mix, it's hard not to love the guy.
