Everybody talks about the Taylor vs Pavlik fight, but there's another interesting fight tonight....Chad Dawson vs Epifanio Mendoza.

Dawson should win but Mendoza is a good puncher and aggressive. He is going to come out throw hard punches looking for the big KO. It's going to be interesting to see how Dawson deals with all that. According to a lot of fans Dawson has a weak chin so maybe tonight he'll prove that he can take a punch.:smoke

Anyway I think Chad Dawson is going to dominate this fight and win by TKO round 8.:deal

Dawson 172.75

Mendoza 175

mendoza may be a puncher at middleweight, but he aint no light heavy.

solid fight, but not for a title defense.

but i guess what can you do when the original guy pulls out.

i pick dawson by tko in eight.

I think Chad Dawson is a KO waiting to happen, he has amazing offensive arsenal but his defense is very suspect. This guy is not the one to exploit it though.

Dawson is the future of the division. This guy Mendoza has next to no chance, as Dawson is just on another level not to mention that Dawson is a natural 175 lber. Mendoza is a blown up middleweight, maybe supermiddleweight. That being said, if ever a fighter had a reason to overlook his opponent it's Dawson. Originally he was training to hopefully fight Tarver, Tarver then said no, then he was supposed to fight Diaconu and then Diaconu get's injured and now he is fighting the third stringer.

If he were a KO waiting to happen then Adamek would have done it...But in insteda Adamek landed flush and then Dawson hopped right back up and only at that point was the fight competitive...Dawson even won the next round...He suffered 2 other flash knockdowns. He is long and lanky with fast feet...I think Dawson just needs to get his balance in place not square up as much....there is no proof that his chin is week...He beat the living shit out of Adamek and took his best punch and yet people say his chin is weak because of a flash knockdown...I just don't get it. When harding knocked him down he grazed Dawson with a jab...it was more of a balance issue...how can people get this confused??? Where is the proof of his "weak chin"?

This fight will basically be the same thing that Dawson vs Diaconu would be.. except Diaconu would probably last into the later rounds. Either way, Dawson would embarrass both of them greatly.

Two huge factors that leave mendoza with nothing but a very very small puncher's chance:

1) Huge gap in boxing skill

2) Despite the weigh-ins, Dawson is the naturally bigger man (natural 175 lber vs a blown-up middle).

A good defence considering they had 2 weeks to find an opponent after Diaconu pulled out.

Dawson KO 5 here.

 True...Taylor vs Pavlik is THE fight but Dawson is starting to become one of my favorite fighters so this is a fight I'm really excited about.

Dawson will outclass Mendoza, with relative ease. I'm surprised at how light Chad came in at, 172.5

Do you think that's a good thing or a bad thing?

I can't really judge on who will win, being I never seen this Columbian guy fight. I don't know his styles or anything. But I think Chad wouldn't have a problem with him.

I'm not sure, I thought I once read in an interview with him that he said he can't get any lower than 175 so who knows.

BTW, nice avatar. :yep :good

Dawson's a class above Mendoza. Literally and figuratively. He's a much better fighter and Mendoza's just a middleweight.

*and no i didn't forget about supermiddle so don't bring it up

Two years ago when I trained Chad for the Carl Daniels fight at 160... 24 hours before the weigh-in he still weighed 172. Made the weight the next day, too. So he was at the very least a legit 168 pounder back then. And it appears now that if he had a very strict diet, etc he could make 168 again
