The forum is awash with continuous talk of the Pac-PBF tiff at the moment, but, if anyone didn't know, there has been a very interesting turn of events after RJJ's shock loss to Green inside one round: RJJ is trying to get the result of the fight overturned over handwrap irregularities leading up to and during the fight. There is a copy of the actual protest letter submitted to the relevant authorities by RJJ's people in the link I have provided and it is quite an interesting read. It also seems like they have a very strong case on multiple counts against Green.
Any thoughts on this? Is it a legitimate case? Is this RJJ's way of delaying retirement and convincing himself that there are other factors to blame in the latest installment in his demise as a fighter and he still has more to offer? What does this mean for Green? How could something like this happen so soon after Margo's case?

Not a hope in hell of getting that overturned. Prior to the bout they had the leverage of threatening to pull out, now they have nothing.

Jones lost, pure and simple. I wish Roy wasn't going through this to be honest, I felt strangely relieved learning that he was going to retire. Dragging this out and possibly fighting again? That's a no-no and if so he's a danger to himself.

You think? The evidence for irregularities in the letter is quite substantial, IMO. As you say, it is all 'after the event' now, though.

I think that's what makes this an interesting move as well. RJJ is looking for other reasons why he was beaten other than his own demise, IMO. That points to the possibility that he might be thinking of fighting again. Hope he doesn't as it wasn't nice watching him post-fight:-(.

Its after the event, the are appealing to Greens home commission and they are trying to overturn a first round KO.....I don't think they have a snowballs chance in hell.

Would Jones get a licence in America?
It was bad enough seeing him getting thrown around the ring and bashed up by Calzaghe, to be blasted out in a round by a (at best) half decent fighter in Green shows he needs to call it a day.
Holyfield lost his licence from New York for ''diminished skills'' at a similar age - yet was able to take two world champions the distance years later. Jones doesn't have the toughness Holyfield had/has......

In the letter it says that they agreed to the IBO's and unified American rules for handwraps. It also says that Green violated his won country's rules and guidelines on them.
I do agree with you when you say it's very unlikely to be overturned now, but I just find it amazing that something like this has happened so soon after Margo-Mosley and I also think the appeal is an interesting insight into what RJJ's next move might be:good.

So why didn't they stop Greens corner men before the fight if they were wrapping his hands illegally, like Mosleys' corner did? Why bring this up only AFTER getting knocked spark out?

If people didn't think RJJ was shot and simply got caught and finished then this would cause more hoopla.

Having now read the letter, it does seem he might have a case. If what RJJ says is right then Green didn't comply at all with the rules. He used a hard wrap and at least twice the amount allowed.

Wow! actually lookes like they have a valid case. If this goes any further it will be very interesting to see how it pans out. I don't want to see RJJ in the ring again, but if a boxer is cheating he should definitely be pulled up and dealt the correct punishment.

I think that the fight was delayed slightly because Jones was questioning Greens wraps....could be wrong though
If they didn't make him change the wraps at the time there ain't a hope in hell its going to happen now. That would be admitting they were wrong.
