I will go for Sykes by decision - good even match up though, credit to Maloney for that.

At The Brentwood Centre - 22nd January 2010
Carl Johanneson (27-4) vs. Gary Sykes (13-0)
Ian Napa (19-7) vs. Jamie McDonnell (12-2-1)
Ashley Sexton (8-0) vs. Usman Ahmed (5-2-1)
Scott Belshaw (10-3) vs. Larry Olubamiwo (6-1)
I think that if Gary Sykes can stay out of the way and box but making sure he does not get drawn in he can win this fight...the longer it goes the better IMO...:yep
Gary Sykes is in far better condition and much fitter...:yep
If Sykes gets drawn into a scrap and gets tagged by CJ he will get knocked out...:bbb

I think that if they moved this show up North it could bang out a number of venues...Brentwood for two Yorkshire Rivals...:rofl

It should be on in Barnsley...
Is that from Boxrec?
I read in the local paper that it was cancelled cos Sykes got nominated to fight for the Lonsdale. Said he'd only be having a keep busy fight on the Brentwood card.

If this is Sykes meaning of keep busy im a fan

Carl supposedly hired a sports nutritionist and has been back in gym for a while. He will bring Syke's all he can handle that's for sure. Sykes has to be the favorite but i wouldn't like to write Carl off. If he really is in good shape then he still has a bit left to beat Sykes.

Yep, The Metrodome would be great too...:yep
Johannsen ain't a keep busy fight...if CJ is fit and firing I think that it could be a tough night for Gary, but it is not something that he cannot overcome...:good

Sykes will destroy him, he's one of the best prospects I've seen live.

Sykes is a grea prospect but a fit and dedicated Johanesson is a very hard task. Winner easily cleans up the division.

Johanneson beats Sykes hands down, reasons why 1. Sykes hasnt a punch that could break and egg, 2. He has no chin,3 He hasnt the strength to keep Johanneson off. Sykes has been baby sat through his career theres not a fighter he's been in with that can.punch like Johanneson, Buckland isnt a banger yet Sykes and his fragile chin made him look like the bigee the biggest puncher on the planet. Get a grip people

I've got money on Skyes to win via judges scorecards, and for neither fighter to be knocked down. SkyBet have decent odds on this fight for once, might be worth a look.

I reckon you implied that you might be a Johanneson fan / family member / Carl Johanneson.

I've never claimed dole in my life, fool. Even if I wasn't working I wouldn't claim anyway.
For what it's worth, I think Johanneson wins this fight..... I hope he does too.
My initial comment in this thread was very much tongue in cheek as I'd recently seen him out in town with a few mates, absolutely hammered. I went over, said hello and bought him a beer too..... he's a nice lad.
