They should've made him fight Virchis or McCall for the interim HW championship.

He beat Toney twice So did everyone else in the division. Ruiz, Rahman got robbed, only a shot Holyfield lost to him.

Ruiz wasn't robbed
Toney tested positive for a banned substance after the fight, so it's safe to say that he cheated

You are technically correct, but I think the poster's original point is that Toney's achievements at heavyweight are vastly overrated: thus, a win over Toney, at this point in his career, does not mean much. The fact that he had to take steroids to beat Ruiz confirms this. In fact, Toney is probably the only fighter that felt the need to take steroids to face The Quiet Man.

His accomplishments at heavyweight were overrated - Holyfield, Guinn, Booker. And a NC vs. Ruiz and a sloppy draw with Rahman that I feel he should have lost.

BTW-though I do not think Peter should have been awarded the interim title without a fight, and he is, in effect, now a paper champion. Such action is consistent with the WBC's recent history. But, at the same time, I don't see why the WBC could not have just waited until Peter fought McCline, and declared the winner of that fight Interim Champion (are they at all concerned with at least having the appearance of legitimacy?). I think it's hilarious that, having just been awarded his paper championship, Peter now refers to himself as The Heavyweigh Champion of the World....what a schmuck.

I saw that on the Showtime quotes from the Dawson fight...:-(

I agree.
I laughed out loud when Peter called himself the HC of the world. Even the WBC are not calling him THE champion, but merely the interim champion. Maybe Peter needs to informed that Interim champion is not champion. Not yet, anyway.......He's jumping the gun.
Beating Toney apparently carries alot of weight with Peter.........LOL.
They really screwed up by not having Peter fight Mccall, then deem THAT winner the WBC Interim champion,.............
Rediculous.

I am picking McCline to beat Peter.
So Peter's interim championship reign won't be long.........about three weeks, or so.............
Peter is annoying. He seriously thinks he is the savior of boxing.

Peter is one of the few enertaining fighters in the Heavywieght division that is clearly on life support right now, say what you want about Peter but he is fighter that actually fights not like some of these Euros who break a nail and want to call off fights.

Peter is limited. Most people feel Toney beat him in their first fight.
I´m not sure I disagree with giving Peter the interim title, cause he has been waiting for his shot for an extremely long time. Just let Peter fight somebody good soon after McCline. Maskaev should be stripped if he doesn´t get in the ring soon.

He is definetly acting like a true don king owned fighter who is handed a title without a fight and proclaims himself as the true champion. I liked the humble version of Peter much better than the current ignorant one.

Lets be realistic, Peter is going to OWN McCline...Once McCline gets hit with the first flush punch he is going to be scaried shitless and he will run the remainder of the fight.
Peter KO in 8

I think this is McCline's fight to shine. I see him putting his combos together, and landing more impressive shots than Peter will with his wild swinging. McCline's fast combos will be more deliberate and accurate, and he should leave a better impression on the judges.:good
Should be a good fight, though. I am turning on Showtime just for this fight, then I'll shut it off the following month.

I feel Mccline will taste the canvas in this one, I do think Peter will have a hard time roughing Mccline up considering hes around 6'6 270 with alot of muscle, I just see Peter catching him early and knocking him down early then finishing him late around 9th round. Mccline has never won a big fight in his career, and this is one of his biggest and hardest fights of his career.
