**Kelly Pavlik: he is a natural finisher....**

Plain and simple, Kelly Pavlik is a natural finisher, there's only one other boxer active today that he can compare when it comes to finish and opponent...Miguel Cotto....they are both natural finisher....they have the mental capacity to analyse the situation stay in rhythms as they find the holes and delivered debastating punches to see their opponents to the end...


Kelly Pavlik showed heart, getting off the canvas with over 1:25 left on theround and surviving what hhould have been his first lost as a professional....Jermain Taylor was seized by the moment, rather him seizing the moment like Pavlik did in the 7th.

Pavlik showed his defencive flaws but also showed what a cool customer he is and far better boxer than I gave him credit, diplaying a tough jab and winning the jab war with a well know jabber...

For Jermain, he fought aggressive did what he needed to do but finishing the job when he have to...his amateur style...which he never shook-off didn't allowed him to do more than what he did...

Jermain, IMO, and also by talking with other in the boxing circle, might retire, his will was clearly broken when he was laying on the canvas, as his body language clearly said...I am done...I ain;t getting up....Smoger...sence that also as he stop the fight , Jermain was done...and he might be done for good...

They both gave us a great show, tough fight, Jermain fought for 4 rounds the fight he needed to fight, but Pavlik, clearly was determine and have the heart of a champ....

Nope...I am not a hugger like you, in fact all the questions I posted on post were legitimate, and Pavlik answer all them ...the most important one was his heart and how he responded to adversity, he did well, now...it came to the fact that Jermain didn't saized that moment when he should have finish Pavlik as he had him in a silver platter....he didn't know how to finish him, he allowed Pavlik to grab and get his bearing again..he had Pavlik ready for the take all he needed was one more solid punch insted he followed Pavlik like an amateur throwing wild punches rather than stay in the pocket and connet the same combo that put Pavlik on the cavas......

Nope I am not uptight...I am simply addressing the fact that back on the "Q& A" post for the Pavlik vs. Taylor fightI also commented on your narrow minded post....again dude...did you went to the bathroom to take a shit in the 2nd round and didn;t watch it....this was not a breeze in the park for Pavlik and if Jermain would have know how to finish the fight, we all be talking about that Pavlik didn;t have a chin....

And go back and read some of my analysis's of this fight. I agreed that this would be a hard fight for either man but that Kelly would still get the KO victory in the end.:deal

Again...I am not taking anything from Kelly's win but if Jermain would ahve stayed in the pocket and seized the moment..this conversation would be happening....your boy won fair and square..but he got a break....let just said that ...and again I am not taking anything away from Pavlik, but this was a fact

I don't consider Taylor's inability to finish Pavlik in the 2nd a "break" for Kelly per say. That I more consider Taylor's mistake and stupidity for not seizing advantage of the moment. A break for Kelly would have been if fanboy once again flew into the ring and disrupted the action in the 2nd. Kelly's survival was based on good instincts and smart clinching to get him out of the round. You say break I say good boxing.

One thing I'll give you though is that ref Steve Smoger was a little late in breaking up the clinches and that right there might have added to Pavlik's ability to get throught the round and steady himself. But that's to be expected of Smoger as he let's the fighters fight without much interruption.

You are contradicting yourself in the first paragraph of your post, I agree that Smoger allowance of the clinches and Jermain inhability to seize the moment cost him the win....Jermain amateur status come to the surfae twice on this fight, allowing Pavlik grabs when Pavlik was ready for game set and match...and backing up when hurt in the 7th, after the monster right connected cleanly on his chin, he should ahve taken a knee rather than backing into the corner like most amateur or in experience fighters do....Jermain never shook that amateur style

Pretty good awareness to go to uppercuts, while Taylor was covered-up. A lot of fighters, even high level fighters, tend to throw a high volume of straight punches, which primarily land on their opponent's arms, when they have someone hurt like that.

:huhI'm not contradicting myself at all. I call the fight as I saw it. Pavlik's survival weighed more on intelligent clinching than anything Taylor might have done and that's that. To call it a break is unfair towards the skill and class of them men involved.

As far as the amateur style is concerened I actually saw taylor fight early on in his career right out of the amateurs, and I can tell you he's a much improved fighter since then. His amateur style was that of a mostly right handed fighter who only used a soft pawing jab to set up the heavy right hand. He's 10 times the fighter he was back then make no mistake about that, he's a bonafide proffessional. He might have made a few mistakes but to call that amateurish is great disrespect to the man and his craft.

Ok plain and simple, Jermain Tayor brought an amateur style to the pro's...that he improved since the amateur, shit he should ahve, but yet on his mind he is an amateur fighter, Jermain Taylor does one thing well straight jab and he has good athletism that carry him very fat, but pro boxsing skills he has very few....he never been able to fight efficiently on the inside, he backs up until he is in a corner and then fight to get out of corner, he reacts, rather than understand the science....When having the opponent in trouble, he didn't know how to finish, hius footwork is awful, when he was hurt he backed up into a corner defenseless, rahter than grab for his like or take a knee...his ringmanship is awful....only his athletic ability even some of this shortcomings and did him well until he was in trouble..and one of my Q & A was how will he act when in trouble how much composure he will show...and he showed none.....

Good stuff, I agree Orish. I've been saying a lot of these things for a while now but many turned me down because of the fact that Taylor was still "winning". But now we finally had a fighter in Pavlik who could not only exploit all his flaws, but he was also aggressive enough to capitalize on them and take Taylor out.

Taylor was "winning" but fading fast also, he was getting hit square plus he was coming in with his chin in the air since the the middle of the 5th...I commented to that regard when I was watching the fight....and when he got caught by them of the 7th he was coming is with his chin in the air again....this time Pavlik didn;t miss, Tatlor lived the entire night in Pavlik's wheelhouse....it finally caught up with him

this fight is a must watch for young fighters. what to do when your oponnent is hurt. i agree with you orish that the 2 round was more what taylor failed to do rather than what pavlik did. taylor did not compose himself and assess the situation, he just threw punches with no rhythm. if he takes his time steps back and picks his shots, he gets pavlik out of there. pavik showed exactly what is supposed to be done. he hurt his man, and did not let him off of the hook. he took his time and placed his shots.

Taylor just doesn't have the heart of a champion. He looks very hesitant to finish Pavlik off right after flooring him in the 2nd round. I was really wondering why JT looks afraid/defensive when he in fact he should be very aggressive after flooring Pavlik.

On the other hand, Pavlik showed the heart of a champion. He deserved to win.
