yeah it was pretty good, apart from Buncey momentarily insulting his guests! luckily he quickly withdrew the comment.
I know it was in jest but it was an ill considered comment and obviously made the two boys uncomfortable.

Not sure about that, I think it would be pretty easy actually - he is a big emotional lump and there are plenty of buttons that could be pressed - just look at the Sexton II presser.
I suppose you were just testing the boundaries then, eh Buncey! :good

not necessarily. If Bernard could have fitted in an "easy" voluntery prior to the mandatory bout against Poonsawat then I think that would have been good for Irish boxing, Dunne and Peters.

Bernard didnt even deserve a shot at that title nevermind an easy voluntary. You earn your voluntarys after you defeat your mandatories. And if you cant defeat your mandatories then you shouldnt be holding the belt in the 1st place....

absolute and utter bullshít - but thats not a shock coming from you.
Bernard didnt deserve his shot but took it and won it and if you win it then you are entitled.
If you can fit a voluntary in before you are mandated to face the mandatory challenger then you would be an idiot not to. Therefore you probably wouldnt.

Your bias for bernard dunne stops you from being reasonable about this..... dunne was cordobas voluntary and poonsawat was cordobas mandatory for 15 months i believe so poonsawat shouldnt have to wait for dunne because poonsawat was mandatory for long enough and deserved his shot and because poonsawat is world class he defeated dunne by ko in quick fashion because at the end of the day poonsawat is world class dunne isnt.

where are you getting this "I am biased towards Dunne" bullshít from.
I predicted that he would get stopped by Cordoba and I predicted that his only chance to beaten Poonsawat was on points and that he would have to get up off the canvas on multiple occasions to do so.
In the other thread I have proven that your logic is confused and borderline retarded.
I suggest you put a sock in it before you continue to embarrass yourself - however I doubt you have the intelligence to do so

Was just going to ask buncey if there was any interest from Setanta in showing some domestic Irish or international fights or is it wait and see?
Top show anyway, good to see you back on the telly.

Great show Steve, is there any indication that Setanta could be investing in more Irish boxing. There's several promoters they could be working with, Dolphil, Paddy Hyland, Tommy Egan, Pa Collins, Belfast Promotion[that's Alio] or Gary Hyde to name but a few. These promoters are going without any form of TV backing, and a cash injection from Setanta to them[or at least some of them] could bring the sport in this country to another level.

I'm banging the biggest drum that I could find about an inch away from the ear of the boss of Setanta in Dublin.
Let's get our toe in the door and then they will have trouble kicking us out!
Remember that the Bunce Hour was only 15 minutes long at first and the men that ran Setanta in the UK were against it! The fans made it happen, trust me. We need to make sure that as many people as possible know about this show - I've sent out about 1,500 emails! The show in Britian grew this way and the fights followed - we can do the same in Ireland with Setanta. There are fights that can picked up for very little and some promoters that will need to drop a few rivalries, swallow a bit of pride and look at the longer picture. This could work.
Adios and thanks.

This thread has now had over 650 views as well. Let's hope Setanta Ireland see sense and put the show back on as it deserves to be on TV. Amazing that the BBC doesn't seem interested, though. How much can a camera, the MOTD studio, some boxing banners to decorate it and airtime on BBC3 cost in comparison to all the other tripe funded by the beeb courtesy of our licence fees?
Do you have any idea how many listeners tune in to the London Boxing Hour, Steve? As I said before, plenty of people around the UK and Ireland tune in to Cockmey FM just for that show.

what can people in ireland who do subscribe/or dont subscribe to setanta do to help?
i think it needs to be people in ireland that need to send emails as they are the ones that setanta need to subscribe in order to produce and show stuff. they have certainly given the programme a good lot of showings over the last week or so.
there might not be that many left that do subscibe. those that do need to tell them how much we enjoyed the couple of recent buncey appearences over the last couple of months and that we would like more (maybe even a monthly review show would be a start). also that we enjoyed the fagan - hyland bout that was screened last year and we would like to see more local boxing on setanta ireland.
those who live in ireland and dont subscribe could say that they heard about the buncey appearences and that if they were a regular thing and if they showed some local boxing they would scbscibe to the channel.
mind you the price went from 21.99 euros for 11 channels down to 16.99 euros for 2 channels. so the couple of recent buncey appearences have made the fee somewhat justifiable and any more appearences or boxing would be great.
i cant find a direct email address. but if you go to the contact page on their website , they should get the message.

Should push for it to go National not that it really matters. Its a disgrace that the show with Costello is only 8-9 times a year.
I like to call it the Bunceys Boxing 20 minutes......................I really dont care if Fulhum reserves have scored agaisnt Sporting Riga lol

The Five Live boxing show has been on since Sept 2004!
The BBC like to keep it secret and away from iplayer etc - I think it is to make sure that the tennis/F1/golf/cricket/rugby versions look good!
On BBC London it is available on iplayer and it is the most popular hour of sport each week! Fact, not fiction.
The men at Setanta are sensible.

good luck with getting Setanta on the hook. There were 18 pro shows in Ireland last year which is a record as far as I know. I am sure most of them could be picked up on delay for nothing as long as a crew was sent around.
BTW what is the relationship like between those at Setanta and RTÉ?

News release on behalf of Tommy Egan Promotions
Wednesday January 6th
Tommy Egan Promotions Television Deal with Setanta Sports
Tommy Egan Promotions’ bid to bring Irish domestic boxing to the next level has taken a significant leap forward as the Irish promoter has entered talks with Setanta Sports Ireland to broadcast a City West hosted fight night.
Legendary boxing pundit Steve Bunce will host the event, which will take place on Saturday April 17th. Headlining the night is the Irish Light Middleweight Title clash between champion Neil Sinclair of Belfast and New York based Arklow native James Moore.
While the return of Buncey is an exciting development, Egan believes it is just a part of what will prove to be a sensational overall fight night package.
“We are delighted to be working with Steve Bunce and Setanta Sports. Steve is a huge name in boxing and he is second to none in terms of boxing commentary and knowledge. Steve will bring something extra to the televised show and we are thrilled to be the first Irish boxing promoters to have him for a fight night since the popular ‘Bring Back Bunce’ campaign was launched,” he said.
“I am promising Irish fight fans a strong card. I am going to make fights that will excite the live and TV audience. Having Setanta involved will also be great for Irish fighters. They will have a platform to display their skills to a wider audience. The link between Tommy Egan Promotions, Banner Promotions, Freddie Roach and Steve Feder means that the fighters could really progress their careers Stateside,” Egan explained before revealing this show will not be a once off.
“This will be the first of many quality Irish cards to be televised. Tommy Egan Promotions will make the Irish Title prestigious once more and will give Irish fight fans quality cards on a regular basis.

They go dead after a while on the forum for some reason; some techie probably knows the reason why. The vids are still on youtube, though. Paste this URL to the end of youtube.com: watch?v=mT24zcvbx1s&feature=player_embedded ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) . If that doesn't work then just search for it on youtube. It's still on there.
Also, Paddy, that's great news. Hopefully it'll start kicking off properly now. Considering all the networks and stations we have here, it's amazing that the program might end up on Setanta Ireland.
