SAM SEXTON GETS COOKING WITH DELIA SMITH

2nd January 2010 By Kevin Francis

DELIA SMITH is helping Sam Sexton cook up a recipe for success when he challenges for the British heavyweight title.

Sexton meets champion Danny Williams at Wembley Arena on February 13 when he hopes it will be a case of “Let’s be ’avin’ yer!”

Smith is a director of his home city club Norwich and Sexton, 25, is following the chef’s ultra-healthy recipes. She famously stood on the Norwich pitch at half-time in a match against Manchester City and urged the Canaries fans to get behind their team.

Now Sexton hopes to have the belt off Williams with the aid of Delia, saying: “Until a year ago I couldn’t boil an egg but I’ve taken up cooking as part of my new training regime."

“Around the time I lost to Derek Chisora I wasn’t in the best of shape and I vowed never to go into a fight under-prepared again. I worked harder than ever in the gym and also started to prepare my own meals with the help of a nutritionist to make sure all the ingredients were healthy."

“I’ve got the recipe books of all the best chefs, but the one I’ve been following most closely is Delia. Her food worked twice for me against Martin Rogan. I don’t think I’ve ever been in such good shape for fi ghts before. It will be the same against Williams."

"I’ve got plenty of respect for Danny, but there is no way on earth that he can beat me. Even if the Danny Williams who beat Mike Tyson turns up, then he’s still in trouble against me. He says he wants to take the fi ght to me, but that suits me just fine.”

Don't know about Delias cooking but Sexton should win this contest which probably be Dannys last. Sam does go walkabout when hurt and Rogan should have finished him off in their first fight but held back for some reason.Tyson Fury should get back in with John McDermott who was robbed in their fight for the English title. The one who needs Delias food preparation is Derek Chisora who likes to take a bite out of his opponents.
Last of all lets hope David Haye has a good year taking care of Ruiz and then putting the boring robotic Klitschko brothers to bed.
Happy New Year fight fans.

I thought Danny had retired. Didn't he admit himself that he was 'shot' after prizefighter?

Aye cause he done a great job with Moore last time out eh, you only ever hear about this guy when someone wins, never when the guy loses, he aint great then though?!

If you are taking credit when your guy wins , you have to take the kick in the balls when he loses, or dont talk about it at all. Same with coaches, if you MAKE a champ and want the credit, you have to take the slapping when he loses also.

All the same Sexton is in dream land if he thinks Delia Smith can add something to the mix:patsch

The guy is fat thus I consider him a disgrace. He trains every day so can you imagine how much he must eat to counter act that training and stay podgy. I think Sexton is rubbish. The guy has a bit of speed. I hope Williams can get the big ko and ride off into the sunset.

Hopefully Williams decides not to fight. Can not stand the thought of him embarrassing British boxing again.
