First fight is on 11-12. 12-1 is the third fight. 1-4 is the ESPN Ringside show of the trilogy. I'm talking Eastern time. So it's on in about 1 hour for those interested...

I asked DirectTV if they were going to take anything off my bill now that I don't get Classic. There was six seconds of awkwardness right after that.

 Sorry man. DTV can be a bit more expensive than the other cable providers to my knowledge.

lol at Bowe saying the fan-man was a conspiracy because the momentum was swaying toward Bowe's side. "They had the walkie talkies and they said... he's doing bad bring him in." Holyfield had blankets and towels. They were ready, they knew. I didn't have anything.

Does anyone else think Bowe deserved the decision in the second fight?

Does anyone else think Bowe deserved the decision in the second fight?

No, but it was a close close fight. Tough one to score.

Was it the first one that Manny tackled Evander right at the end?

Second one.

I love Bowe. "I'm Muhammad Ali... cause I just am."

Personally no.

Evander fought a much better fight tactically than the first fight and even though Bowe dominated portions of the bout Evander always responded and enjoyed some pretty damn good periods himself.

So all in all Evander won a very close but,to my eyes, clear decision in a high class fight.

I dont know how anyone could hate on Bowe so much after watching these fights. Some of my personal favorites. I have all three programs mounted in floating glass hanging in my office. My own personal shrine to the trilogy.

I think the fan man stole Bowes thunder. I think Bowe was coming on strong and that fan man screwed him. The fight was close.

I personally feel Bowe and Holy were both hampered by the fan man. Bowe's Missus going down couldn't have been good for him either but I feel Holyfield got the better of it (am gonna re-score it soon) but Bowe got the better of the series, although I don't always buy Evanders excuses its clear there was something amiss in the 3rd fight.

He just started brawling right away, but Bowe looked horrible in that fight physically in my opinion, so maybe he felt he could hurt him which he did with that little lefthook. To me Holyfield just looked like he punched himself out and was in generally poor shape himself.

There were big questions surrounding Holyfield's health after this fight and with how badly he gassed out against Moorer.Conversley he did beat Mercer prior to the Bowe fight in a tough 10 rounder and looked fine but the shorter distance may have helped.

He was supposedly (mis)diagnosed with a partially blocked heart ventricle later healed by Benny Hinn then said he'd contracted Hepatitis A which accounts for how tired he got in the 3rd Bowe fight. Also some say his use of HGH had a detrimental effect which of course Evander denies ever using.

So who really knows?

But I agree that something was amiss for Bowe 3.

Especially considering Holyfield could eat cheeseburgers for six weeks and he would still look ripped as all hell.

The fact that it is so tough to score is precisely why I believe a strong arguement can be made that Bowe deserved the decision. Several rounds could have legitimately been scored either way. Some people argue the champion should get the nod in such a close fight.

Yeah I think a lot of people focused on how gassed Holyfield looked at times and lost sight of the fact that Bowe had clearly diminished from his 92-93 state.

As bad as Holyfield looked at times, Bowe was not exactly killing him through the whole fight (as the 92 version would have).

In retrospect, it's easier to see this, but at the time, a lot of people just looked at it as Bowe winning the rubber match and building momentum towards another title run.

Your right. Personally I thought both guys were the loser in that fight as neither really showed they were on top of their game. Nevertheless I still have the trilogy enshrined on my office wall.

That it was tough to tell when Holyfield wasnt actually well prepared for a fight, and there were fights he didnt train hard for. He just never looked soft or out of shape.

I'm not one of them. I thought Holyfield won the fight. Was the more deserving winner. But I agree, Bowe could've gotten the decision.
