Is he leading the pack for the next title shot? Especially if he beats Diaz in his next fight?
Let's discuss his No Contest with Emerson. White says he was out cold. Maynard says he wasn't.
His exposure to MMA was through BJ Penn, BJ picked him on TUF and now Maynard is line to fight him. Can the student slay the once upon a time master?
What are your thoughts on Maynard? I'm looking at the UFC 155 guys to see who should be next in line for a shot cos BJ is in the same position as GSP - running out of options. We can't have him disappearing on us too.

No Maynard has no chance against BJ. well everyone has "a chance" in MMA but he has no more of a chance then say Hughes does in beating GSP ever again.

Penn loses to nobody at 155. The only time he will lose is when he gets a swollen head again and moves up in weight again.

Maynard doesn't want a title shot. He doesn't think he's ready. Considering he's trained with BJ before, I can see why.

He gets cold sores on his mouth... considered herpes but a bit different than genital herpes. I am glad that I don't get them... but a HUGE percentage of the population carries the HSV1 gene in their body. Some people show it by getting cold sores.
Anyways... I have known Maynard for quite a while as we wrestled at the same time, one weight class apart in High School here in Ohio. He is definitely a fucking beast. He is also DEFINITELY next in line for a title shot if he beats Diaz. Anyone at 155 beating Penn seems hard to imagine though. I would give Maynard a better chance than anyone else at 155 though. He hits very hard, has pretty fast hands... his wrestling is definitely top notch, and he is strong as fuck. The only downfall that I see for Maynard is lack of experience right now... even though he has had a lot of success against top 155 pounders in the UFC.

I get them. They suck, the worst. You gotta get to them right when you feel the tingling numbing and you can stop it. If not, they hurt like a bitch and make you look ridiculous too.

Getting past Diaz isn't even a given. Maynard is more well rounded, but that pesky triangle could do him in once again.

Gray is a pretty good fighter im hoping he dominates Diaz so the Penn-Maynard fight will appear to be somewhat competitive on paper. Im tired of seeing Gray Maynard do just enough and pull of decision after decision. Diaz likely wont be submitted and probablly wont be knocked out neither but id like to see a real dominant performence. That said it wont be easy for Diaz hes arguablly undefeated in his UFC career.
