View Full Version : Emanuel Steward the bout would be competitive "about a round."
That was is pre fight talk MANNY IS SH!T i tell you SH!T A great trainer would never say that this guy would only be able to make it interesting for a round thats crazy, Manny never ever teaches his fighters how to fight on the inside only hold. Everything Pavlik did in the tapes he did to jt it was not any faster manny said "he surpsied me how fast he is and the boxing skills" MANNY should have known what was coming Look at all manys fighters all hold on the inside. fight proves to me is manny is a dumb ass fraud

Manny is no fraud, but he had to eat his words after this fight.

This aint shit. Steward was probably more embarrased when Lewis and Hamed, both his fighters, got beat in back to back upsets. Lewis won his rematch and also rebuilt Wlad so he recovered his reputation, at least with heavyweights. Taylor just happened to be the dumbest fighter Steward tried to train.
One fight that didn't unfold "exactly as he expected it to". But to say that Manny doesn't know what he's talking about is ignorant. Just as quality fighters lose fights, so quality trainers of them do.
He will have some explainging to do to the HBO bosses, though... ouch. That's gonna be a prickly meeting.

I thought his corner advice and everything overall was pretty bad for this fight. He wasn't helping Taylor much, and after the 3rd round ended it was obvious this was going to be a big problem.
what more can you ask of taylor besides winning? he had kelly hurt and knocked down. They are both winners in my book and the rematch will be every bit as exciting and competitive. Wasnt helping taylor much my ass. This was a pick'em fight all day. They beat each other 5/10 times if they fought that much.
Pavlik is more skilled than Taylor. He has a boxing style that suits his strengths.. Taylor is more talented than Pavlik, but hasn't learned or been taught a boxing style that maximises his potential..
A good point is brought up.. Steward does great with fighters that are tall, but this grabbing shit he has been training his fighters to do is just lazy. Tommy Hearns movement, aggression and style is my benchmark for Steward as far as how a tall fighter should be trained to fight. Taylor learned to hold like that from somebody, so did Lewis and the Klits.. That part of the style is garbage and bad for boxing.
I don't think Steward trained Taylor to keep his lead low. He doesn't seem to get any sort of different angle on his jab by holding it low..

It was all a sign of insecurity from the start.
