im not a big fan of either. but i tend to favor taylor. we tend to judge to quickly on this forum. taylor last night wanted to get it. he came out smoking. did you hear the shots jermaine was landing. thumps.but anyways . let jermanie get he rematch he deserves. if he would of boxed for twelve rounds he would of won. pavlick was lucky they let it go in the 2nd round. pavlick fought a tired fighter who lost all his energy trying to ko him. pavlic won fair.congrats
but in a rematch i pick taylor.

Yeah I agree. taylor was on the verge of winning by KO2!! it was pavliks heart of a lion (what? heart of a beast, a monster!) and taylor's weak finishing capability that won pavlik the fight. So he won by KO but it was a close fight, period.
In boxing , winning or losing sometimes lies very very close to eachother. And this fight was a good example of it.
Peace!! Viva la revolucion!

If Pavlik won fair, then why the excuses? Pavlik killed Jermain. If there was a rematch at 168, it would favor Pavlik instead of Taylor, cause JT uses speed and moving up in weight will just slow him down and make him more tired.

Haha, yeah right, Pavlik got hit flush, and go up no problems....Taylor on the otherhand was outcold.

Got to disagree I think talor will get koed even sooner if there is an immediate rematch. Taylor needs to get his confidence back up before getting in with the gost again.

I dont wanna make a prediction for the rematch - I think these 2 are as evenly matched as you can get. I wanted pavlick to win becouse I prefer come forward fighters but in truth I enjoyed every secand of a great fight. Cant wait for the rematch!

What are you trying to say with this?
''got up no problems'' watch round 2 again.
By the way, in case you think I am a taylor fan. No i am not, nor a pavlik fan.
That's why I can judge neutrally and objective. You on the other hand don't seem to...

Maybe fight Abraham first? I thing 'king arthur' is absolutly made for taylor then him an pavlick can have a rematch with three straps up for grabs.

I think if Taylor wold keep his hands up, he would hae a very good shot at winning the rematch.
I think the same. Like I said, sometimes winning or loser lies very close to eachother in boxing. That hand was SO low , c'mon now. That was really a shame. But he got payed for it, and that's because now he probabaly won't do that sh*t again

In the end he did kill him, but lets not get over exagerated and make it seem like it was a blow out. Pavlik killed him in a war with both men getting hurt...in the end, the toughest guy was still standing. The difference in my opinion was Taylors poor ability to block shots and making some obvious mistakes that should NOT be made by someone boxing as long as he has boxed, especially with having Manny on his corner. As the fight progressed, Pavlik kept his hands high and blocked many of the hard shots while Taylor started getting caught more and more and it caught up to him. I dont dispute the stoppage one bit; Taylor was clearly out of it when the ref stopped the fight and he could of gotten hurt if they would have let it continue... He seemed both really hurt from the punches and at the same time exhausted. In my opinion, Taylor should have clinched Pavlik after getting rocked with that right hand, instead of backing up to the corner, or if he was too blind or rocked from the punch, he should have taken a knee and given himself some time to recooperate. When Pavlik got rocked and went down in the second round he seemed like he was hurt while still being a bit cold. If Taylor was a better finisher,he could have finished him right after that knock down (at least to where the ref would have stopped it), but he did not throw the right punches to finish him off. Once Pavlik got warmed up, he took Taylors shots much better than in the beginning.
Im just saying how I saw the fight, and Im a Taylor fan.

Taylor would have a good chance obviously he knows he's faster and can hurt Kelly but of course he would have to try and avoid getting hit which is quite difficult in a boxing match. :yep

Explanations are not the same as excuses, Jose.
Jermain made none. He gave an explananation as to why, but he didn't try to detract from Kelly.
It was a great fight. Kelly was as close as one can get to being KO'd, but he showed serious balls by getting up and coming back for the win.
Both men fought well, and on the night, the better man won.
Rematch will probably be on fuckin pay-per-view :verysad

Pavlik would be better adjusted to Taylors speed this time and he'd be more wary when Taylor is fresh early. This experience means he'll post another W!
Taylor couldn't see his flaws, even in defeat. He just thinks he wasted punches. The guy doesn't know how to take away the jab or right hand. EVEN on the pads he can't block a jab and Steward had to keep reminding him.

Taylor's main problem was lack of going to the body especially when had Pavlik ready to go.

Yes he had a poor selection of punches when he attempted to finish him off. Why would you throw the same looping right over the head when Pavlik has his guard high up. Throw combination at different angles to get through the guard...some of those punches will find their mark just as when Pavlik had Taylor hurt, he came out and threw a combination of different punches.

Taylor wouldn't be the only one learning from his mistakes. Pavlik also got sloppy on defense and nearly paid for it in the 2nd. It's unlikely he'd make that mistake again either.

Pavlik will watch the tapes and fight a little more relaxed next time, but it was the acumulative affect that did in Taylor

I think if anything, Pavlik was a little bit too confident and they took Jermaine too lightly. I think all they thought was "he fought small guys like Ouma and he couldnt knock them out"...
Bad mistake as it goes to show in the second round. THis shows that Ouma has a monster chin for a small guy. he took some nasty shots from Taylor and didnt go down.

I think that Taylor's inability to stay relaxed in the ring cost him big. He looked nervous where as Pavlik was calm and poised almost in a sense that he was the champion and Taylor the challenger.
Taylor just needs to make adjustments, I can see him winning the rematch..

I think both guys came out very nervous, excited but tense. Especially Taylor..he was throwing some wilde punches from far away. He was overshooting himself...something he has done in the past. The problem is that hes done the same mistakes over and over..he had time to watch the tapes of old fights. Why didnt he correct them when fighting Pavlik.

Taylor was always overrated, plain and simple...

I think Taylor needs to learn to take his time when he has a fighter hurt, he did the exact same thing against Ouma, he tried to blitz him, and it made his punches less effective because his technique slid when he went for the kill, and then he ends up very tired from the barrage of punches he just threw
