View Full Version : Still can't believe the second round

I can't recall a fighter in recent memory getting beaten so badly in one round and then recovering like Pavlik did. The replay of the first knockdown with the flush shots Pavlik ate is just ridiculous. For all intents and purposes, he should have been out but he survived the storm and got stronger as the fight went on. Pavlik is one of the toughest SOB's I've seen in a long time.

Corrales vs. Castillo

Ahh.....good pick.

BTW, congrats on the Phillies.

yep, I thought he was dead and buried. The thing is, JT isn't a big hitter. Imagine if those shots were from someone like Kessler or similar.....not so sure he would have weathered it.

Corrales vs. Castillo

Yeah but Corrales got a little respite with the mouthpiece incident. Pavlik had to recover on the go with no break from the action. Don't wanna open that debate up again but it's the truth. Good example though.

The best part was Pavlik chuckling in the corner at how stupid he was to let Taylor hit him with that many shots. When he said, "I'm good.", and chuckled, I knew he had all his senses back. Truly amazing! And Taylor can hit.

sorry to tell you. taylor is a pretty good hitter. kelly said it himself. jt is very underrated in the power dept.
But he is not a BIG hitter. He has above average power.

I'm so happy they're finally back in the playoffs, with some help from the boys in Florida of course

no shit. i said he was a pretty good hitter, not big! his power is above average, yet so many here say he has no power.

Yes, but you quoted a poster who said "Taylor is not a big hitter" and said "Sorry to tell you. Taylor is a good hitter."

You posted as though you disagreed with that assessment.

ya, i knew he would get up but i thought he would go down again but Taylor just could not capitalize on Pav being hurt. Man, Kelly Pavlik looked like Frankenstein when he got back up the rest of that round. It looked like he was flatfooted and couldnt even bend his knees haha as soon as he was saved by the bell, i knew Taylor was gonna pay for his mistake.

I have to agree with you, it was a stupid answer.

no probs DM. I was actually shocked how hard Taylor does hit to be honest. Like I said elsewhere, it's a shame for him that he isn't a little more composed when things start picking up. If so, he would still be champ. i am no fan of taylors but he won some of my respect last night. During round two there was a second or two when I thought it was a mismatch!

It doesn't happen often - that's for sure. Big turn around for Pavlik.

JT might not be a huge puncher, but he's a decent puncher. Just think of being hit several times flush by an average (non pro fighter) guy close to your size. KP showed the heart of a champ and came back to win.

No-one can deny that at all. Helluva comeback.

great fight though, and i hope they go again.

I think the rematch is anyones'. The only thing is, for Taylor, is that where would he go if he loses again? Do you think he'll fight Pavlik next or take a couple of easier fights? One thing is for sure, he needs to fight like he did in the first six rounds. I'd forgotten that he can actually fight.

I think JC or Kessler would make him want to give up the fight game. There would be no way back after what they'd do to him.....that's my opinion anyway.

When I watched it live, I got goosebumps and screamed like a lunatic.
I couldn't believe it, he sat in his corner laughing, I thought to myself "what a fucking badass". But I've watched it four or five times now , and I must say, it looks worse then it really is.

Taylor hit him with many undefended flush shots and amazingly Pavlik was able to make it out of the round, somehow??

Taylor should have been able to finish the fight right there in the second round... he just gets so worked up that he can't do anything sometimes.

Reminded me of the old days with Danny 'Little Red' Lopez. He did his best fighting after getting off the canvas.

He was tagged badly, and he was on shaky legs.. but he was clear and Smoger noticed it :good

Just look at the Miranda fight as an acid test of his iron chin.

Taylor caught him with good timing and a combination of punches.

The only criticism of Pavlik is that he's a little upright and he's not the quickest at the weight.

However, he hits damn hard and is relentless!

Seems a nice guy too! :happy

He's the undisputed number 1 in the division for me, Sturm ain't special and has lost. Abraham would have the best shot, but he got battered by Miranda and I doubt Pavlik would go to Germany .

Shocked me BIG TIME, I thought he was finished that round and WOULDN'T recover no matter what but he really impressed me.
