.......Courtney Fry is NOT fighting Tony Bellew on March 12th. Apparently he wants more money...

Who is left for Bellew to face?
Oakey is facing McIntosh later in the year;
McKenzie is fighting just a month before.
That basically leaves Ajisafe, Barney, Dilks (if he moves back up) and Stubbs. None of them really interest me, so its a shame the Fry fight isn't happening. However, if I had to pick one, it would be Dilks.

Sean Corbin , Kingsley Ikeke or JJ Ojuderie for the Commonwealth. Isnt Clev hanging onto the belt just to piss Bellew off lol

Bellew is wanting a fight against a domestic guy and the belt on the line is possibly the 'WBA International' title. He may fight Ojuederie, but he is coming off of a poor loss.

I hope he fights McIntosh.

Think that's a little harsh on Fry. There's massive interest in this fight in Liverpool and no need for it to be an undercard fight. If Bellew can win this interim/international title thingy (no disrespect To, but I'm sure you know it's only worth a shade more than a belt from Next) then a fight with Fry can be billed as a 'World Title' fight and they can be headliners in the echo arena.
Also, Courtney said he undersold himself against Cleverly. He isnt getting any younger so it makes sense for him to get the most money he can against a very, very dangerous opponent.

Give Fry the money then.
There is absolutely no point in fighting guys like Ajisafe and Dilks.
If he is gonna fight those guys for the next 12 months he mgiht as well go abroad and chase some European opposition.

Agree with this. But Fry has said that 'in any event' the fight wont be in March.
I like the look of this happening in July.

I totally understand Frys point of view, this would be a big fight in Liverpool but if he loses then realistically he'd be fighting for peanuts until his career petered out. I don't blame him for wanting well paying for the risk/ fight.

Fry should get what money he wants, bellew needs this step-up, hope the fight comes off as the start of 2010 hasn't been very good with fights coming off...

i personally dont think it would matter how much money was on the table.
courtny fry wants more money but what people arnt realizing is that he got paid the same amount to fight cleverly, as he is bellew but there were 2 belts on the line not 1 like in this case, and also a huge huge factor is he got k.o.d by cleverly his last fight, i dont think hes in a position to be demanding big amounts of money. and no disrespect to him but its not like hes won all sorts of titles as a pro, he hasnt won any. i dont see how he can demand anything,
if it was me. id think to my self well il take a decent pay day against bellew then if i win i can demand all sorts of money once i have a belt. but hay thats just what i think

I take your point but I'm with GazOC on this one.
If Courtney takes this fight and gets beat here it's pretty much game over for him. He wont see another shot at a title (domestic or otherwise) again. He's the wrong side of 30 and a dangerous opponent for most prospects so he wont get the big fights at this stage of his career.
If he doesnt take this fight then he can continue to get average paydays against average fighters.

serious lack of high-quailty light-heavies domestically.apart from cleverly and bellew the rest are nothing short of pathetic.

Obviously the realities of Frys situation are that he's coming off a stoppage loss to Cleverly and that is bound to affect to some degree the fee he can expect if he fights Bellew but he must know he'd be up against it in that fight so I'm not sure he will be taking the attitude that if he beats Bellew he can then cash in on the win over the longer term. At his age he'll want to maximize what he's guaranteed to earn from the fight.

Oakey would be a great test but the fight won't happen cos of who Oakey is looked after...
Macintosh would be great while it lasted but without being too biased, if Mac hung his chin out like he did against Clev, then it will be an early night.
You only get one shot at your career and I think Fry knows that if he loses then his is all but done. I don't blame him for wanting more cash, if that's the case. On the other hand, if he thinks he can win, why not take the fight and make loads more in the next one?
Whilst the light heavy scene may not be the very strongest, there are some challenges out there for Bellew apart from Clev. Joey Vegas for one...not a great record but gave Clev fits in Cardiff a couple of years back (Calzaghe Kessler undercard) when he was at about the same stage of his career as Bomber. He'd be tough, as would Ovill McKenzie if that fight could be made.
Should be a great year for Bellew regardless...:D

I'd guess he's realistic to know the likely outcome, knows that will make it his last decent payday and just wants a good wedge to bow out with.
Most boxers in Frys position arn't scared of their opponents or scared of losing, they just want paying well for it.

I agree Gaz... Smilie was a bit of craic... Who needs the fight more...? I think that Tony will have to go into the European Market for contests as his domestic rivals ain't interested...:yep
If Fry wants more dough he should do what JC said to Hopkins first time they tried to get the fight on...One pot, winner take all...!

Yeah, I guess Fry should be careful that Bellew doesn't move on, the fight slips away from him and he ends up with nothing.
I'm always VERY sceptical about those "winner takes all" offers, they never ever happen and are usually just a way to try and goad an opponent or get a few column inches in the papers.

I can't recall a major fight having been winner takes all. Quite surprising when you think of all the winner takes all offers that have been made over the years....;)
