I'VE written before about the use of Human Growth Hormone by boxers - a highly relevant topic given the current row between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
Their fight has fallen apart because Mayweather wants Pacquiao to undergo the same kind of drug tests that Olympic athletes are subject to, including blood samples.
Pacquiao says he is happy to conform to The Nevada State Athletic Commission's regulation to give urine and three blood samples - two before the fight and one after it - but believes that having too much blood taken shortly before the fight will unfairly weaken him.
Manny has never been caught for doping offences and there is no suggestion whatsoever that he is guilty of any wrongdoing.
But he is suing Mayweather's camp for defamation, saying they alleged he took performance-enhancing drugs.
The use of growth hormone could be an increasing problem within boxing.
There is a strong rumour one British fighter - and his trainer - have been taking it.
HGH, a naturally-occurring substance, adds bulk if taken in excessive amounts and is seen by some idiots as the perfect pill for fighters who want to move quickly into higher weight divisions.
The British Boxing Board of Control get a lot of things right when it comes to protecting the safety and interests of boxers, and I'd like to see fighters randomly tested for HGH.
As for Mayweather-Pacquiao, there have been reports in the last few days that the fight is definitely dead in the water, despite arbitration involving a retired judge.
Don't be surprised if the fight gets resurrected sometime in 2010 though - there's too much money on the table for it not to happen.
However, I do have a feeling Mayweather is using this controversy to avoid Pacquiao.
Talking of Pacquiao, he was the second most-searched-for person on Yahoo last year, just behind Jennifer Lopez.
That's always a good place to be!
AMIR KHAN'S mandatory WBA light-welterweight title defence against Argentinian Marcos Maidana will go to purse bids this week after those involved couldn't come to an agreement.
I HEAR May 31 has been pencilled in for Ricky Hatton's comeback. The Hitman has not fought since losing to Manny Pacquiao last May.

That is a strong statement to make, I wonder who it could be??

I would think he's referring to Haye/Booth.
Funnily enough, going back to the press conference that was held when the Klit fight was called off, someone on here actually commented that he looked like he'd been visiting James Toney's Pharmacist.

Why would Haye be suspicious? When he was fighting at Cruiser he would be somewhat drained, where as his weigh-in weight would be pretty similar to his fight night weight...so the 17lb difference between his last cruiser and fight against Barrett almost certainly exaggerates the real difference. In the worst case scenario, he managed to put on a fairly unspectacular 2.1 lbs each month, but it's obvious that in reality a lot of difference would have been water. It's not exactly advertising for HGH is it? Or do I misunderstand what HGH does?

It's Kahn and Roach ;)
In all honesty though, it's probably Haye

Random blood tests could lead to the kind of widespread revelations that boxing could do without.
What tests do the UFC use?

Are you suggeting that boxing shoul bury its head in the sand on this topic. Lets find out who the cheaters are, and let the clean athletes have the glory, money and belts.

I have to agree. However, I also agree with what ****** is saying about Mayweather using this as a way to avoid Pacquiao. Manny should just keep bringing this up to shame Mayweather into fighting him.

It can only be Haye he is referring too. Someone he doesn't promote and the only British fighter moving up in weight who requires a serious build up of muscle mass.

It has to be Haye/booth
Of course, yes it has to be:huh. ****** is a fountain of truth on issues when it involves a fighter who he doesn't like and is all too quick to throw a snide remark out there when bitter about not getting a fighter to sign one of his contracts. Get real. Haye is only just over a stone heavier than he was as a weight-drained Cruiser; not exactly massive in comparison and it's not like Haye is all of a sudden 3 stones of pure muslce heavier either.
I'd love to say what I really think about Fwank, but I will be banned. ****** is the biggest ...(insert praise/obscenity here)... going.

Nah, he said he in his opinion Pac was clean, so He wouldn't say that if he believed Khan was juicing.
It's Haye, can only be him. He also said his trainer was at it too. Roach ain't juicing :D

Yes but he was Johnson's european promoter at the time.
With regards the comments, its utter bull.
If any newcomer to the weight is juicing, then its Tomasz Adamek,
The guy was has jumped about 30lb in 3 years.
Poland is rife for steroids and USS cunningham's loss got an immeadiate rematch after it emerged his victor didnt get any post fight tests done.
Some of the poles in the strongest man competition are 19 stone and ripped to shreds. Slavs are naturally strong anyway, but fook me !

Look where it got me, anyway the adage what goes around comes around, Fwank needs a good pr team to get his profile back on track, casuals are fed up of being taken for mugs nowadays. Now his cashcow is leaving him and all his prospect are a few years from fighting for titles, he is stuck with Mitchell. cant wait for him to start saying mitchell is better cos he beat prescott, you just know that one is going to come out teh woodwork soon...
