Kind of saw this one coiming. I had a feeling when his career continued to go nowhere after he beat Deiter Roth that he just waan't any good.

Page is better than his record indicates. Just check out the records of his opponents in his last 10 fights. Zack is no pushover and has been stopped only twice in his career !

Explain about Koeber. What level did you expect him to get to and how good is he now?

Wasn't Köber referred to as "knock-out" specialist by his promoters?

Page is a damn good fighter.
His record is very deceiving.
He's lost numerous fights where he was clearly screwed over by the judges.
His rematch against Eugene Hill was a farce. He gave Hill his first loss - but in the rematch Hill got a gift.
He whooped Mike Marrone and still got the loss
Undefeated Francisco Palacios should have at least 1 loss on his record - but Page didn't get the judges nod.
That's been the story of his career.
Page is by no means a push over.

From what i saw against Pulev, Zack Page is must been Top 10 Cruiserweight. Very fast for this weights, good chin, fast attacks, precise tactics ! Just need a proper manager who will bevieve in him and the results will come in short time.

Well, he was an undefeated German prospect, and they matched him agianst similarly undefeated prospect Dieter Roth witht he idea that the winner would go on to bigger things. Koeber won, but still handpicked fighters and laregly went nowhere. I dig what people are saying about Page being better than his record, but he's been bested plenty of times, and if Koeber can't find a way to beat the Zack Pages of the world, he isn't going anywhere.

Page is one of my favorite fighters. He's a cruiserweight that takes fights on days notice, is tough, and can box. He beat Lou Del Valle and Cisse Salif and was by many accounts robbed against Guinn. My trainer had a tough fight with him too.

Man, im happy someone else knows whatsup with this guy too. Have you seen him fight? I saw him when he beat Del valle. Had on the crappiest pair of trunks and shoes I had ever seen on a pro fighter.

I understand what you're saying....
but Page is by no means an average fighter.
We've already mentioned his very deceiving record.
But very few guys have the chin that he has. He's a natural cruiser who fights at Heavy on short notice - and very few guys have ever tested his chin (at both cruiser and heavy).
ogii3 hit the nail on the head. What Page needs is a management team that will believe in him. I'm going to guess that Zack Page is the type of fighter that also has to maintain a full work schedule outside of his activity in the ring. Compare that to guys who only have to worry about training for boxing. Give Page a team that believes in him and is willing to help the man out.... and you'll have a dynamite fighter on your hands.
In a fair world, the catalog of Zack Page's fights are reviewed and he's given the wins that he rightfully deserves.
nastynas, I've seen some of his fights. What really impressed me was how many incredibly knowledgeable boxing fans talk so highly of Page. At first I looked at his record after hearing this praise I looked at his record and thought, "there has got to be another Zack Page that they're talking about"..... but one of them was able to hook me up with some of his fights and I was very impressed with his skill - then only to see the undefeated or better known opponent get the nod anyway.

I understand and laregly agree with all this. I understand that even Pulev recently had some trouble with him. It is no knock agaisnt Page, and I sincerely hope he gets new management and campaigns as a crusier. But if Koeber cannot beat Zack Page, he is not going to beat a Klit, David Haye, Alexander Povetkin, Eddie Chambers, etc.

Who ever thought he will do so? He just does not have the tools. He will be another Virchis/Bidenko type of fighter. Euro-level/gatekeeper/fringe contender.

I really feel for a guy like that. The best he can hope for is to beat a few prospects in a row and become a Monte Barrett type, especially considering his age.

Once again let's take some proper look on Zack Page. I saw his fight against Pulev, who is very hungry to make big impact and is really quality player. Don't need to see other of his fights, just listen a lot about him, the way he is fighting, the way he surprises well known fighters or give them hell of a fight.
We are speaking of a guy who has fought 8 times in 2009 against real heavyweights all of the surpasing him from 8 to 25 kg. He won 3, lost 5 matches against a combine record of all his opponents - 96 wins and 9 losses. Ok let's take out of stats Hector Fereryro (19-7), who waas TKO-ed by Page. What we have - 7 opponents with combine record of 77 wins and 2 losses ! Wow
Let's get down back in time, he has a fight with current WBA cruiser champion Guillermo Jones in 2007. Lost by points in 8 rounder (one of the judges gave 77:74). Guess for who was made this match.
I think if he made 2 months proper camp with nice sparingpartners he will have very big chances to beat not only Jones, but two of the others champs - Steve Cunningam (still official contender number 1:) and Marco "Captain" Huck
This is my view. There is no sense to speak and make schemes if he didn't get such a camp, just going here and there around the world, fighting sometimes twice per month against bigger guys!

Fair enough. No one was exactly singing his praises.

Personally, I see this as more of benefit for Koeber. Sure, he lost but a single loss shouldn't define a fighter's whole career. Especially in this case, Koeber is a young guy who is starting out, maybe he'll be succesful, maybe he won't be succesful and he had a real thorough lesson from a good and underrated veteran fighter to point out his shortcomings. I think a fight like this will help Koeber from being a "frontrunner" type. Page has been around and fought some real talent, he knows what it's all about although Page was Koeber's opponent, his experience is going to influence Koeber. My feeling is that a few losses are good for a fighter. If a fighter doesn't have any losses it means he's either a true phenomenal talent, or has been too protected.

I agree but I have to add that Koeber is already at the end of his twenties, so hisn´t exactly a young gun.
