Lean, tall body, but still comes forward, looking to trade, don't mind taking hits to dish a few out.

Yeah, the kind that peak young and fade fast. The way he fights he is probably done at age 29.

Good analogy - except for the chin part. Kelly's got a better chin for sure...

But yeah - he will peak fast and be done by 30.

Pavlik has been put down more than once, one of these days someone is not gonna allow him to get away with it!! .

Never thought of it that way but you may be on to something.

It's a testament as to why Chico and Kelly are (were) fan favorites.

I think that Diegos style is better suited for infighting though. He had very short arms for being such a tall guy so he was able to fight in very close and still have a lot of pop on his shots. Pavlik on the other hand, I think is the kind of guy that needs room to punch and would smother his power trying to infight the way that Chico did.

Pavlik throws way more punches than Chico in some fights Chico spent much time waiting for the perfect shot.

He reminds me of Margarito, when you watch him plod and punch, plod and punch you cant help but think .. . Hes far from a pretty fighter as far as technique goes . . . but before you know it his opponant is busted up.

He is much better than Margarito. He is a preasure fighter, yes, but he punches harder and more importantly STRAIGHTER than Margarito.

I didnt say the were carbon copies of each other, but there are some real similarities - to pretend otherwise is foolish. The plodding straight forward style and defense (or lack of) plus the heavy handedness.

I just dont see Margo as a being that heavy handed. He will wear you out, where as Pavlik will lick you with a few good shots.

You are correct about them being preasure fighters though.

Pavlick isnt really a one puch KO guy either, he landed many solid right hands and power shots before stopping JT, he even said it himself, it was an accumulation of punches - very similar to AM.

I would say Pavlik has the better jab while AM has the better chin.

Sure he takes some punishment; but, remember most of his fights are shorter because of his knockouts. This will cut down on the amount of punches he has to asborb...just keep knocking their asses OUT and maybe he will not have to retire early as many of you are saying. But, this is boxing and really who the hell knows just what rising star is in training at this very moment.
