A proposed unification is being setup in April between WBO light flyweight champion Ivan ‘Iron Boy’ Calderon (33-0-1, 6 KOs) and IBF light flyweight champion Brian Viloria (26-2,15 KOs). There has been talk for quite awhile of the two squaring off as it is the biggest fight that can be made in their division currently. Aside from that the two have a history going back to their amateur days where they each enjoyed success by defeating one another. No exact date or venue has been named as of yet due to Viloria having an upcoming title defense against Carlos Tamara (20-4, 14 KOs) in the Philippines January 23rd.

Calderon by UD, always rated Calderon, doesnt seem to get the recognition he deserves, one of the best p4p at the lower weights.

Would be a good fight and always good to see unification fights. Viloria's improving and Calderon's going back a little I think so potential cross roads fight.

This is a very special fight. We do not get many great fights at these weights any more.

I love Calderon and think that he has been consistently one of the best 5 boxers in the World over the last 6-8 years.

However, I think has been showing signs of slowing down over his last few fights and is fighting at a weight where he shouldn't be. As much as I'd love to be proved wrong I think Viloria wins this.

At last:happy. Been looking forward to this fight for ages. I love watching Calderon box, but I think Viloria will win this on points.

Like Losfer, I'm backing Viloria to win.

Villoria has been fairly stop and start though. Okay, great performance against Solis but Calderon really wants this as Viloria beats him in the amateurs.

Calderon by decision, probably after about 8 rounds and a headbutt

Where the fuck is Roman Gonzalez?!?!!?? He needs to get up to light-fly if hes struggling and fight more regularly, Segura is a great fight for him and the fans.

Excellent fight.

Even though Calderon is slowing down, I'll still take him to win a decision (what else?) over Viloria who can be inconsistent.

It's good that Calderon is taking more chances as he gets older, which he needs to do to secure a legacy that's representative of his talents. He never showed any desire to fight the other belt-holders at 105, which was a shame. Better late than never though.

Strawweight is decent now. Doubt he can strain himself down to it now, he seems comfortable, though his lack of power means H2H I wouldn't see him beating other 'great' straws/light flys.

For instance Chang would eat him up inside three rounds. Carbajal would get to him.

I really rate Calderon though, fast of hand and feet, good boxing brain and deceptively tough for such a small guy.

I wouldn't expect him to go back to 105 (although I think he probably could), I just meant I'd have liked him to try and unify the division while he was there. He seemed happy to face faded champions, contenders coming off a loss and WBO mandatories. It looks like he finally wants some meaningful fights though, thankfully.

I think he's the second-best Straw-weight ever, for whatever that's worth. I'm not sure he'll have enough meaningful fights for me to realistically rate him at 108.

The fact he's achieved what he has despite having absolutely no power, speaks volumes about his boxing ability though. Excellent fighter.
