I really like Kelly Pavlik, but to be honest, I didn't know him hardly at all until the Miranda fight. I like him, but I haven't followed him for very long.
Conversely, I've been FURIOUS at HBO, DiBella, etc. for the garbage that was the "Bad Decisions" bandwagon for several years.
So I have to say I am more happy that Taylor lost than Pavlik won. Now that I know Pavlik I really like and appreciate him, but The Taylor Fraud has gone on way too long, and needed to be stopped. All you have to do is look at the crooked judges' cards from this past Saturday night to see what we were headed for if this had been a decision fight.
Thank you, Kelly Pavlik. Thanks for B-Hop and Winky, and for the legacy of the middleweight division. Order has been restored.

Im a boxing fan first and foremost and thus am happy for Pav, am also thankful for Taylor. . . look at his list of opponants as a young champ Hops, Winky, Oumma and Pavlik - the dude give the fans the fights they want (with the expetion of Spinks - but I blame Winky for not taking the rematch).
Taylor was not a "fraud" - thats just ignorant. . .he doesnt have a "weak" chin - the dude took ALOT of hard punches from the biggest hardest hitting MW in the game today - and he was one punch away from stopping Pav in the second round.
Thos so called fans shittting on either one of these guys need to wake the fukc up.

Good post. Lets remember that Taylor took on Bernard at a younger age than we expected, fought him twice, fought Winky, and fought Pavlik. He gave us the fights we wanted to see.

I am a Taylor fan and was pulling for him, so I was sad that he lost. Nevertheless, Pavlik's win has apparently generated alot of excitement and buzz for the sport of boxing. Every now and again, a certain personality in boxing comes along and catches the attention of the casual boxing fan. Pavlik just may be the kind of fighter that gets alot of people interested.

Damn. I thought Taylor lost to Hopkins and Wright. But I didnt take it personal. I never hated the man. At the same time, I didnt have a favorite going into the fight. I was just happy it was entertaining.
And lets remember that if Taylor didnt have balls and pride, we would still be waiting for him to fight Pavlik while both of them fought irrelevant fights and we the boxing fans waited.

I am very happy Pavlik won. I have been saying for a couple years that he would be the next 160 pound champion. I'm also glad Taylor is gone. The middlewieght division is one of the most prestigious in the game, and I don't thank Taylor did it justice.

exactly, the dude laid it on the line and lost to the more determined fighter - no shame in that .. . the shame would have been if he came up with BS excuses to avoid Pav to begin with. . . cant ever imagine Taylor saying "Who has he beat???".

Anytime a fighter wins one questionable decision, let alone a series of questionable decisions, the sport suffers in the eyes of the public and people think back to the 'fixed fights' days of the past.
If the health of the sport doesn't matter to you, how was it said, "so-called fans," that's your business. I care about the sport and have covered and followed it for almost 30 years. Taylor's string of BS decisions hurt the sport's legitimacy, AND THAT, I do take personally.
HBO wanted to get rid of the 'old' and 'unmarketable' Hopkins. And everyone knew of the rift between former HBO employee DiBella and Hopkins. All of this was common knowledge. And that's why, I feel, Hopkins got robbed twice, particularly in the first fight.
I don't like unjust decisions. Another one that comes to mind is Toney-Peter I.
I don't care about race or any of that crap -- I care about the better man winning. I was disgusted when Chavez 'drew' with Whitaker, when Toney 'lost' to Peter in their first fight, and I was extremely disgusted with Hopkins-Taylor I, and the subsequent 'reign' of Taylor. Taylor had a lot of potential but he's been ruined by DiBella and HBO, IMO. And by his own inability to listen to Emanuel Steward.
Jermain seems like a really good guy, or at least he was. But he's gotten a lot of stuff undeservedly, IMO. Let's hope this loss was the 'wake-up call' he needed to get his edge back and start working on the huge weaknesses in his game he never tightened-up in the past.

No buddy, if he didnt fight Pavlik his career would be as good as done. There was nobody to fight but pavlik dont you get it, that was his last fight at middleweight, the last thing he could do for himself was duck pavlik, then go to supermiddleweight known as PUSSY and a FRAUD! But thankfully, he got what was coming(so did HBO), took it very well and now people have no right to call him a fraud or a pussy.

Taylor is not a fraud. He fought 2 very close decisions that went his way against b-hop and a close fight with winky that could have gone either way. He clearly won the next 2 fights although it was ugly. He fought a great fight on saturday. He showed skill and guts almost won but Pavlick was too tough. Taylor will be back. He was not the best champion and not an all time great but he is no fraud by any means.

No more jr. middles to fight. No more Cory Spinks to back Taylor up like Spinks was a light heavyweight.
Look, Taylor is an excellent athlete who decided to box. He is not a great fighter, and has huge weaknesses in his game. He got away with it because he fought old and undersized guys. Once he fought a legit middle with power and who is in (or coming into) his prime, he lost.

Floyd ducked Margarito and Winky, he's known as a pussy and HBO still pays him. :good
Give props to Taylor for fighting so many tough fights or simply be a jackass.

Well said. See this isnt Jermains fault all of this started, because it all started with HBO. They screwed him up as a fighter, and practicly ruined his reputation By letting get by in fights he should have left with his head down. This fucked him up mentally as well. He was full of himself by the time the Pavlik fight came around. NOW he can make himself into the fighter HBO wanted him to be. Im officially a fan:bbb

You're absolutely right, he was totally full of himself before Pavlik, which was why he was legitimately surprised he lost in his post-fight interview. He's not used to fighting guys who can really, seriously challenge him either because of size or age. Pavlik's will, skill and ability blew Taylor away, particularly after he survived round 2.
I like Taylor, always liked him until he because HBO's "Frankenstein." If he can get back to his roots, he'll be right back in the mix. As you said alex, I hope he does it and becomes what he can be and does not stay as what HBO and DiBella have made him into.

I'm happy we got a good fight, didn't care who won as much as the fight being good. I was more of a Taylor fan than a Pavlik fan (probably due to seeing more of Taylors career unfold through the years, as Pavlik only had a handful of TV fights until recently).

:patsch :patsch :patsch
Floyd ducks people because he can and still make money being the Pound 4 Pound King that everyone wants to see get KTFO. I suppose people would still want to see jermain get beat, but overall, his stock would totally plummet.
I give props to any fighter who steps in that ring because I have too.
But I think your confusing skillfull and marketable guys as "tough guys" they are all tough, but Jermain was bigger and stronger than anyone he faced until kelly, so i say, get a clue.:thumbsup

Wanted Pavlik to win, Taylors last few fights was the main reason. I'm very glad he did, but after Taylors effort I'm not happy that Taylor lost, just happy Pavlik won.

honestly im little happier but not all that much i knew he would KO Taylor so i just want to see it more than anything. I wouldda been on fire if it went to the scorecards and Taylor got the gift again though.
Neither did anything for me. I'm actually starting to like Taylor. In the post fight press conference he showed class, but more importantly the desire to overcome this loss. I will be watching his next few fights, I wasn't really interested in him before.

I'm certainly not happy cause taylor lost. I think he was a good champoin and a good guy. But I'm happy for kelly. Its his time and he can make some great fights with the guys out there. i'm also happy for the way in which he won. With his wins over taylor and miranda he has proven that he can knockout anyone in the division. Too many times we see guys arrive at the champoinship level with high knockout percentages, which are billed as big punchers and then get proven to be only decent punchers who have faced weak guys. Very rarely do you get world class fighters that can knockout other world class fighters south of heaveywieght.

My feelings are EXACTLY the same as yours.:good I am extremely grateful to Pavlik for erasing the stain of the Taylor Fraud from the history of the MW division and ending HBOs unjust seizure of the MW title.

I was more happy that PAvlik won. The way Taylor was all busted up and stuttering got me feeling bad for him.
Hopefully, he can bounce back but I don't see it in him.
The first time I watched that interview it was hard to see. But when I went back and saw it again it didn't seem like taylor was as busted up as i thought he was. He was still pretty F-ing busted up though. I guess cause i was feeling a little bad for him to start with it just seemed worse the first time.
