Jack Johnson shows Max Baer what "toying" with your opponent is all about - scoring a wide UD.

If you had to hand pick a champion for Johnson to make look bad then Baer would be a sound choice.

I would pick Leon Spinks, but Baer turns the trick too.

Baer would have a puncher's chance, but if Johnson was on his game, I have to agree that he wins a wide UD over him. Baer was very talented, and tends to be underrated by boxing fans today, but he could be outboxed, as his record shows.

In the older, more rough house fights of the Johnson era, Baer has as good a shot as the overrated Willard did.

I'll go against the grain and take Baer by KO 11.

I personaly cannot see a slugger beating Johnson unless he is of the swarmer type.

I agree. I think that Johnson would have fun with Max, or at least do a really good job of pretending to.

Johnson was 37yo, untrained, fighting a 45 round fight, in 100+ degree Cuba. Johnson was ring rusty as the racist powers that be forced him out of boxing and the country

He won every round until Willard caught up with an exhausted Johnson.

I presume this is prime Johnson-Baer over 15

They both couldn't resist having verbals with each other, I'm sure.

Johnson UD.

No, I would say 15 rounds against -10 rounds, what do you think? :think

Johnson would have to be careful not to get caught with any right hands by Madcap Maxie. Baer's chances of winning tended to increase when he landed a right hand...:yep

A" Blackwash" for Johnson . Amsterdam's using the fat ill trained 37 year old Johnson 's ko by Willard as a prop to give Baer a real chance ,makes as much sense as using the Baer who was stopped by Nova instead of the guy who wrecked Schmeling.

Johnson any time of the day. 10, 15, 20 rounds, the outcome identical: a whitewash UD.
