A victory over which of these opponents - now - at 140 or a weight around that (obviously Oscar may be an exception), would add the most to Hatton's future legacy?

Shite, I meant to include Witter... nominate him if you like.
Bradley and Marquez are the most accomplished and actually close to their prime so it would have to be one of them. And yes they definitely add something to his legacy, Hatton hasn't got that many great wins that he could sniff at having one of these men on his ledger.

Bradley looks a solid fighter and the best at 140. The rest all have question marks hanging over them that would be magnified if Hatton was to beat them. A win over Bradley would have to be given credit as a very good win with no "ifs or buts" that would accompany wins over Kahn, Valero, Maidana, Oscar etc.

Tim Bradley for me, never really rated him and was waiting for him to come unstuck in the near future, but I thought he looked brilliant against Peterson and if Hatton could beat him it would be a very credible win.

That's what we should call 'ESB revisionism.'

Yup, but its a fine line between revisionism and merely looking back when in full possession of the facts.;)

Fair enough. I was just thinking of JMM record. But If hatton did fight and beat bradley would he get the credit.:think

No doubt if Hatton beat any of them fighters, a lot of people on here would either say they are past it or they werent that good to begin with.

Bradley. Won't happen though, Bradley would beat the shite out of him at this stage.

I think Bradley or Khan would add the most. If he beat JMM then people would say he was shot anyway.

Bradley definitely

I'd say Bradley. He's the best at the weight (if we accept Pac isn't fighting at 140 again) and beating the best guy in your weight class will always add to your legacy.
JMM shouldn't be fighting above 135.

Bradley no question.
Marquez is probably one of the lesser ones on there for me. He's a small 135'er who is past his prime by a few years. He's moved from 128 to 135 to 144 back to 135 for his next fight and then Hatton would beat him at 140 ?? I DONT THINK SO.
Oscar De la Hoya would be a decent win but people will always point back to the way he was a dead man walking against Pac and hasn't been out for so long. (DLH would dismantle Hatton anyway)
Alexander would be a very underated win IMO being a tricky southpaw but lets face it the general sports fan won't know him.
Khan would be a supeb scalp for him, but Bradley (untill beaten is definitley) 'the man' at 140
Holt, Urango, Maidana - Not really

Ricky loses to them all by KO and it takes nothing away from his legacyg because even in his prime he loses to most of them.

Hatton would fuck Maidana and Holt, possibly still even now. As much as I like Khan as he is now a Prime hatton would have raped him (although I expect Khan to keep improving. He'd beat Bradley and Alexander prime too. I think only DeLaHoya and Marquez can ever be classed as truly Prime for Prime better.
Lets not get carries away with the bashing of him eh lads

Strange post that, you do a lot of these. Not even good wind ups.
Anyway I just wonder why people say Marquez is shot. Absolutely no evidence of it. Very credible win if Hatton beat him, VERY credible in fact.
Bradley would be a superb win too mind you.
But I think even a win over Bradley would be open to revisionism. People would dispute how good he really was. Though in my mind Bradley is a real tough nut and looks to be the man at 140 for the next few years.
Edit to say - I think JMM and Bradley both beat Hatton right now anyway

Bradley or Khan depending on what they go on to achieve afterwards.

Tim Bradley for sure , if Hatton beats Marquez it will be " Marquez is a LW etc etc " which to be honest you could not put up an argument with , however since Ricky's extroverts against the top P4P fighters in the world came to a brutal end Tim Bradley has firmly placed himself at the top of the JrWW division in his absence , if Ricky comes back and beats Bradley i for one would see that as his career best win bearing in mind how Floyd and Manny beat him .

Yes, I think I'd go for Bradley, though I'm not sure Hatton could beat him right now.
From what I have seen, Bradley is increasingly looking a very good rounded boxer.
I think a victory over JMM would add something though, despite the age and weight questions that any victory may throw up. I think it would be an interesting fight too. I'd still like to see this fight.
I think it odd that people have drawn a line at 135 for JMM, based purley on the Floyd fight outcome.

At 140 in his prime I think he's give most of them a good fight, don't you think? Even Urango.
