View Full Version : Who should Wlad fight in January?

To be honest the WBC belt is going to be tied up so McCline/Peter/Maskaev are out of the picture along with probably McCall.
I doubt if Ibragimov or Holyfield will be ready after fighting in Oct. and the winner is suppose to face Tony Thompson.
Chagaev is fighting Moorer in Dec. so he is out.
Being that is a non-title fight I think the best names out there are Valuev, Rahman, Toney, or maybe an up and comer like Kevin Johnson?
Another interesting wildcard would be a rematch with Corrie Sanders who is comebacking.

Since he can't get any of the other champs, he might as well avenge the Corrie Sanders loss.

Tua or Sanders I think will be the options.

I'd love to see him beat Toney or Briggs 1/2 to death though.

Wlad vs. Iggy/Holyfield at Staples Center in January :good
Wlad trains here so he should fight here at least once.

Wlad vs Valuev could be interesting.

Sanders should get a big win before fighting Wlad again. Why?
Chagaev or Valuev (...although there'll probably be a rematch between those two if Valuev gets past Liakhovich)

Chagaev or the winner of Ibragimov vs. Holifield.

What a sorry list. I say Valuev, only because he's the only listed fighter who's still remotely relevant.

Shannon Briggs would be a possible choice too but wlad doesnt want any part of him because of the high risk/low reward

...and because no network in their right mind would ever buy another Shannon Briggs fight ever again.
I wouldn't call it high risk though. Briggs is slow, can't throw more than 10 punches a round and has a mediocre chin. Briggs would be on the end of Wlad's jab all night long until he was KOed in the 6th or 7th or quit on his stool.

Tua.
I think beating Lamon helped to exorcize the demons of his past fights- fighting Sanders right now really would be pointless.
If he can take Tua out of there, then people start comparing his perfomance agaisnt Lewis' and he gains more credibility.
whomever it is, it should be a big puncher. We know that he can shallack boxers at will.

Are you kidding? Again??????? :-(
Folks... pa-leeeeeeeeeeeeze. Everyone knows that THE HW fight EVERYONE wants to see is: Wlad v.s. Peter II. The question is... will Wlad have the stones to fight him again? :deal
Period, end of story.

I think everyone agrees, but due to WBC by laws, that fight cannot happen for some time.
Any fight that Peter is going to take has to be approved by the WBC since he is the "interim" champion. Until Maskaev retires or Peter beats him in the ring he is not a free man. And even then, they will probably make him fight Mcall or VitKlit.
But your right, it is unfinihsed business between two champions and arguably teh two best in the divivsion.

Golota got to get past Iron McBride yet, and remember McBride retired Tyson whom Golota froze half to death in the face of it! :yep

I think Tony Thompson has earned a shot. Or Chagaev for redemption for his missed unification bout.

Tua or Tony Thompson. Tua still has name recognition and is on the
comeback. Thompson is an up and coming American fighter who is
doing well of late. Those two guys might generate some fan interest
but Wlad destroys either one. Peter is Wlad's only real threat at the
moment. Politics won't allow that fight for along time, unfortunately.

Thompsom deserves a shot
Liakhovich would at least give him a decent challenge if the fucker ever gets off his ass and fights

Chagaev should be available in January. He's undefeated and has a belt. I wanna see unification fights.

I swear that list is pathetic. And some of you constantly say this is a very good era of heavyweights. And that is said to make Wlad look like one of th ATG's because he is probably the best of the bunch. Well that bunch is bad.
Just look at each fighter and tell me any one of them is a great fighter. If you are honest you can't. Sure some are bigger than most of the fighters from eras past but bigger is not always better. Those guys are class C and C+ at the very best! Some not even that.

I agree but I wouldn't mind seeing Wladimir beat up Valuev.
Toney shouldn't even be on the list, what has he done to deserve? Same with Rahman.................and Liakhovich should fight somebody else first to prove he's worthy.

That's who I really want to see vs. Wladimir. For unification & the style/challenge of it.
